How many true top sides are in this league -- teams on the level of a Tophat?

How many true top sides are in this league -- teams on the level of a Tophat? The mid-America, mid-Atlantic and Northeast conferences are made up of nearly all former DA clubs. Each of those conferences lost 0-1 DA clubs. The southwest conference is also mostly DA clubs. They lost 2 DA clubs. Some west coast people say that Beach, Legends and some others are putting their top teams in ECRL but another poster mentioned that the players who were selected as team reps to the board were former DA players so I guess we will see when rosters are out. The selection of Lesle Gallimore as commissioner seems to have given the league cred. While I agree with soccermaxx that the website is not great they have done well with Twitter.

How many true top sides are in this league -- teams on the level of a Tophat? I love studying girls soccer... I think the question is an interesting one... Are we saying from a marketing / reputation perspective? Or do we want to measure by quality of previous performance? My guess is probably 15 to 20 depending on the SW teams and where their top teams play. But then I question how much of a clubs reputation or history should be considered when answering the question... Based on research, a lot of the clubs have performed well in their state leagues in the absence of some clubs who have moved on to ECNL. Many are EX DA clubs... The last 6 months has changed the entire soccer landscape so it will be interesting to see and study...

From the looks of it, Weston and IMG will be the main competition for the gold team (depending on whether Weston lost many players to Sunrise Prime). Other than that, they will probably have to travel West to get good games. ECNL's new scheduling platform doesn't have rosters, but for the 06 girls, it seems to me like NTH may have pulled some players from CF 06 ECNL Premier during "tryouts" (I don't recognize some of that team now) to their Navy team. So it looks like the addition of a 2nd team in the league helped them out a bit in some age groups. There's no way the Wake FC parents stay content with the travel situation. Especially with better high-level travel options closer to home.

Ah, maybe they went to UFA ECNL? I know 2 of the girls went to CF Platinum ECNL, 2 went to AFU ECNL, there's another 2 I have no idea where they went (both played at NTH in the past).

I think it will be hard to assess given the club may have the same name/jersey as an ex-DA club but that doesn't mean they have the same players. We know one of the best clubs in the nation TH lost a solid amount of girls at several age groups. So, it is very likely that occurred nationwide with lesser clubs. For example, there was a solid exodus to ECNL from FC Virginia and the south Florida clubs. My gut is that the GA teams will be about 75% of what they were at DA.

Yea, we have great friends on that team and almost all of them have stayed together since u13. They added 1 girl last year (AFU ECNL) and 1 girl this year (UFA DA) outside of the club. They did lose 1 girl to GSA ECNL this year and lost 3 girls last year to either TH DA or UFA DA.

The elite soccer world is so small, which is why I dont buy into the club and league rivalries... Its cool to see kids move around for opportunities to move up a level.

Depending on what forums you read you have a lot of players going to the GA clubs from ECNL and read a different thread/forum and you have kids leaving GA clubs for ECNL clubs. It is probably a fairly safe assumption regardless of what movement the teams have if the club as a whole was a really good, really competitive club they will still be that this year regardless of the league. Even taking a local club like TH where we all know which kids left and which stayed they still look to have some really strong teams. Granted they have only had two pre-season friendlies but so far they still have really good teams at every age group it looks like (and its not just good for GA...)

They were in Piedmont. Unless they are going to get ECNL they have no better options. A few of their age groups were stomping through NPL and Piedmont and would crush the ECRL teams as well (given many of those were the NPL and Piedmont teams). I don't know local North Carolina soccer politics but given the might of NCFC in their backyard I bet they don't have much chance of getting into ECNL. Two trips to Florida and one to Atlanta does not sound so bad especially if pandemic issues clear and they get their cross over games with mid-Atlantic teams.

Yep, exactly, seems like it could be a much better situation for them from a competition standpoint and ability to attract even more kids to the club.
