“Austin FC, roughly six months out from debuting in MLS, have sold out of season ticket memberships, the club announced Monday.
The expansion club gets underway in 2021, and support from Austinites keeps on growing. They’ll be witnessing the league’s 27th team at Austin FC Stadium, a 20,500-capacity facility. It's slated to feature the second-largest roof canopy in MLS, providing shade for nearly every seat watching the Texas-based side.”

will be interesting to see if the MLS schedules around college football on Saturdays - imagine a night game in Austin on a Saturdays if the longhorns are playing at the same time. Stadiums are 10 miles apart, so that's not an issue --

I'm jealous of the open air stadium though -- loved loved loved, and can I say loved Bobby Dodd. concessions weren't great, it got better and they fixed some issues. Rain delays and entering the stadium were sub optimal for sure --- but once you got it in and finally got that brew, man that place was fun. To me it felt more real, more natural etc.

Maybe it depends where in the stadium you are, but by us it was horribly choked to try to get in and out.. and concessions/bathrooms were a disaster. The energy was good, but I'll take the benz.

Too bad the original plan for Benz fell through. What was the “original” plan? I thought the idea was to always play in a dome because that’s what the Falcons want. Plan was to have grass-was cost prohibitive-not enough natural light-would have to use sun lamps. AJC -“Falcons officials initially hoped to have natural grass in their new stadium, but decided in 2013 that the building instead would have artificial turf. The stadium’s lead architect, Bill Johnson, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at the time that a detailed “sun study analysis” ruled out natural grass for the retractable-roof stadium because the field wouldn’t get enough sun light to grow the grass. ”

So money was the solution. Had Uncle Artie actually paid for the Dome instead of the state then we could have real soccer instead of the boring indoor crap.

The retractable roof apparently really drove up the $$$$ and doesn't even seem to be used other than to say, it has a retractable roof that opens like this....

Has to be nearly perfect weather to open the roof. So like in December during a Falcons game? But never during an AUFC like it was suppose to be to make them a legit mls team. Sounds like some solid Bill Belichick and Urban Meyer bending of the rules. 🤔🤔

Me too.. wasn't terribly hot (certainly less than Dodd in the summer!).
Pretty cool watching the giant robot butthole close up at the end of the game, too.

Austin FC expansion draft set for Dec. 15
Austin FC can select up to five players in the MLS Expansion Draft scheduled for Dec. 15, while the MLS will start free agency on Dec. 16. Nov. 30 is the deadline for teams not participating in the MLS Cup Playoffs to submit all bona fide offers and exercised options to the league office. From Dec. 1-13, playoff participants must submit the same info to the league within one day of being eliminated. The MLS Cup is scheduled for Dec. 12. On Dec. 13 there will be a half-day trade window from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. ET. A blackout period will follow, during which clubs may no longer sign or trade players until the conclusion of the Dec. 15 expansion draft.
Ten teams are off-limits for Austin FC because they had players selected by Inter Miami and Nashville SC during last year's expansion draft: New York City FC, FC Cincinnati, Los Angeles Football Club, Columbus Crew SC, Seattle Sounders FC, Minnesota United FC, Portland Timbers, New England Revolution, Atlanta United and Sporting Kansas City. The remaining 16 clubs can protect up to 12 players from their senior, supplemental and reserve rosters. Players with a no-trade clause must be protected.

The newest MLS stadiums are phenomenal. LA Minnesota Cincy Columbus Austin. THAT is a soccer venue.
Being an OH native and passive Crew follower, I think Austin FC’s owner is no good but it’s cool that Austin fans get a team to watch.

The stadium is nice but it’s just a stadium w/o a good product.
