I know that some clubs do coaching projections. Has anyone had any experience with being promised a coach and then having that coach switched out once training starts? We had an experience where we were getting a very good coach for our academy team.. but ended up with one that was inexperienced and not ready for the standards and expectations that are there for academy players in that particular age group-- top team academy players at that.
The club had already locked us in and got our money -- I feel like there should be some language in an agreement somewhere that gives you an "out"for situations like this.

This has not happened to us but I have heard of it happening to others. I agree that there should be an "out." Honestly coaching is my number one reason for choosing certain clubs for my kids. Really, academy age players should not be locked in to contracts anyway. I can see them keeping some of your money due to the costs of registering the kids with US youth or US club and maybe even another $100 or so beyond pro-rating whatever time you spent there but little kids should be dealt with differently than they are.

I agree. What ended up happening to us is that we had to pay our full financial commitment to the club that we left (after fighting for a release) and then pay a prorated amount for the full season to the club that we went to. On top of that we had to buy new kits even though this was an inter-club transfer. I feel that this was fair on the new club end. But completely unfair on the part of the the club that we were leaving.
There is no accountability for these clubs to do their jobs and provide what should be 'better than recreational training' services. To be locked in for a year is unacceptable if you know that the coach isn't connecting and the environment isn't right. I'm sorry that educated soccer parents have to put up with systems like these.

Coaches are usually a big reason why people sign up to certain teams. When you signed up the commitment you made was to that coach/team, the club should give you a release if they are not providing what you signed up for.

Call out the club. Happened to friends of ours at AFU 5 years ago. The age group had 3 coaches in a year. Ridiculous.
