agree -- look for different brackets for mls clubs. It will become a tiered league.
To compete with an MLS club "regularly" you have to be a destination club. UFA and Concorde were both attracting talent from clubs all around the city. Kids constantly were making the jump to go play DA there. Both these clubs competed with AU the past few years. I don't expect inter, SSA or lanier to be able to compete with AU in any age groups regularly or consistently. Lanier is legendary for spitting out 2 different teams in the fall vs the spring, when all the kids jump to play highschool

Is it really a threat though? Are they going to suddenly let in more clubs than had U15+ DA had? Many of the clubs that have ECNL now had ECNL before as 2nd teams (some as first). ECNL is a U13-U19 platform for college-bound athletes, which will always be the goal of the organization. Is that the goal of MLSNext? ECNL will have more local competition and less travel $$$ requirement (on the boys side now). Sounds to me like they're not competing in the same markets. I'm not sure if you realize that MLSNext is actually trying to do things better than DA did. They are trying to keep travel down in order to save costs, they have also stated that they are trying to reduce cost (pay to play) in order to open up doors for those that typically would not be able to afford it. Just to reiterate what allthingsoccer said, and before the ECNL people jump on this post, with anything new its going to be a process, meaning it won't happen overnight and in particular will be much slower with covid19 still looming around. allthingsoccer has already stated that. Unfortunately, ECNL is more of the same, lets capitalize on the demize of DA and fill up our pockets, only difference this time is less travel since there are more teams which seems to be the selling point they are helping players and families. They can't even get their website together during a pandemic. People thinking ECNL is the best thing out there for youth is laughable. There are better teams in NL and GPL than ECNL. I get tired of hearing people in ECNL or previously DA talking like they are just so elite when we know that is not the case as you have kids that make those teams based on relationships and loyalty with clubs and coaches. MLSNext on the other hand, is trying to emulate euro model, less cost, less travel, more inclusive, better competition, better scouting. You guys need to give them a chance to succeed before writing them off. ECNL/NL/GPL/SCCL have better (and worse) teams than MLSNext... there will always be some range. I don’t think anybody ever claims that the weakest team in one league is better than the strongest team in another. May debate the better “average”, but that never gets us anywhere, does it? Serious questions: 1. Less cost: Are SSA/LSA/IAFC MLSNext teams cheaper than their second teams, say NL or SCCL? Generally cheaper than ECNL at other clubs? This would be registration only I guess since travel can vary. 2. Less travel: how is that currently possible with only 4 local teams? Also figure travel cost will be high due to lots of travel. Maybe I’m missing something 🤷♂️

I think that is the idea, it will probably be a lower registration cost compared to other leagues/programs, until maybe clubs can source sponsorships to make it free or very cheap, same way MLS clubs have sponsorships for their players. This will be done gradually. At this moment, I do not know what the fee is in comparison to other leagus but Im guessing its better. Maybe someone from the league will eventually give more specific details. I do know they aren't traveling anywhere that is not driving distance, same as everyone else due to covid19. MLS may even help subsidize a small portion of the fee.
2. Less travel: how is that currently possible with only 4 local teams? Also figure travel cost will be high due to lots of travel. Maybe I’m missing something 🤷♂️[/quote]
MLSNext is bigger than GA soccer, look how the teams are spread in other areas, travel is not much. GA soccer establishment is behind and quite set in their ways of doing business, all about the benjamins but that is changing slowly as parents are more educated and realizing that there are many paths and you don't have to go bankrupt or play in a league because so called experts say that is where you need to play to have a chance. Other clubs will eventually join in GA region to keep travel down.
All Im saying is give the new league a chance to get going.

Agree. MLS has been very strict regarding Covid guidelines so this has hurt the ramp up for sure. Gives them time to hype up. Like I said, give it 3 years and then we can see more of how the structure works Nationally.
Not sure on the whole travel thing yet, AU does play Florida Rush at a neutral location in Georgia.
I'm willing to give it a chance... (no choice..lol)

Websites are now theecnl.com, ecnlgirls.com and ecnlboys.com.
Most of the boys scores now posted based on quick glance at a couple age groups. Standings still only available on app...and those aren't updated for all the teams.

Yea -- none of that matters now. all that matters is the LOGO! Great logo.... for a softball leauge. Once you see the home plate shape, you can't un-see it. Does that little round smudge represent a soccer ball... or is it representing humility? I also just see the letters E and J.
