I like what GA Soccer has done with making State Cup U15+ more like a traditional open cup tournament. SCCL should copy the model and host a voluntary cup for NPL/ECRL/SCCL/SCCL-P teams to play for an open cup title during the fall (next year).

Why don’t they make it truly open and invite GA soccer teams, too? I’m always about opening the pyramid. |

Yeah, that woild be fine also, but it would be tough to get GA soccer to hold thoae weekends open also when theyre reserving other weekends for state cup.

Oh, I don’t think it’ll ever happen-i just wish the state cup meant something like it used to. I’ve heard rumbling of a champions cup that crosses leagues but I’m not sure how that would ever become a reality. |

If GA Soccer can come up with a format like this, SCCL should be up able to. This could have been a chance for GA Soccer to extend a money-making olive branch the US Club side, but that ship has sailed.
Simple idea...Southeastern Clubs Open Cup.
The primary bracket would be the Premier bracket. If its open to ECNL teams, they get their own Elite division/bracket (and anyone else who wants to jump into the Concorde Platinum blender).
Start the cup tournament in maybe August (Publix Atlanta Cup weekend), with one weekend (or day even) per month dedicated to cup play, finishing in November/December. Invite clubs from AL/TN/FL/GA/SC/NC.
But above all, don't wrap it into club tournaments. A given weekend can be assigned a club's location however.
