So I'm in general against teams having to fly to regular season soccer games. Girls ECNL really should go the path of the boys and separate Florida into a new region. Maybe I'm an outlier with this thought, but it was a big problem with DA, teams traveling great distances for single games etc. It's always been identified as an issue with US youth soccer.
But the point of this thread really is this -- should there be national events this year that require teams to travel by plane?
I'm just thinking what a disaster it could be if you fly to an event, and a kid or parent ends up getting a fever while traveling and can't return via the return flight due to the temperature? Imagine if it's team travel as well, with limited adults chaperoning a team? Seems just like a bad idea, but maybe I'm over thinking it a bit.
Seems like a good year to implement regional championships, where the max distance teams travel can be made by a vehicle vs having to fly across the country for a national event.
