It says that the clubs that are participating "chose to participate." Maybe GSA did not want to participate. I think this tournament is a great idea and something done for the best interest of the kids! Someone should do it on the girls side as well. Somehow I think there would not be as many girls sides willing though.😔

Ha ha. GSA U14 is the best local team in ECNL. Not a single loss and puts up multiple goals on their opponents. Maybe ATLUTD only selected teams they can compete against? Only kidding. GSA did beat them as well though.

Yeah Atlanta City out of Silverbacks has quickly become one of the most talented boys clubs in the state. They have a few teams that would compete with any team in GA. North GA is out of Dalton, and run by Kerem Deser who built the Dalton State mens and women’s programs after spending a decade at Ga State.

I have it on good authority that AU may deploy their model of sometimes playing boys or teams up in age within this tournament also, waiting on confirmation as to if Bio-Banded boys will also be allowed to partake... 🤭😷🤭

Makes sense about player movement. This sounds more like an exhibition / academy age style thing where it doesn’t matter about wins. This is all for AUFC to get training in and charge these clubs for games.

no issues with biobanding, just make sure all the clubs know the rules and have an option to bioband as well. Many won't do it, they have a team of 18 players and there go with them, others will opt to.
my guess is this cup will require very little roster continuity and the only requirement will be a maximum of 18 rostered players per game.

Dean Atkins - “ Very excited about the Unite Youth Cup launch.
A great opportunity to bring talented teams together to play each other in a Champions League style format.
A very strong region and so many great clubs that have such a big role in player development in the Southeast.”

flix hearing some games may have kicked off in this new city champions league tourney. Any truth and if so who locked horns tonite? Yes the rumor was true. The true AU 14’s played LSA and won 3-2. I was told they played kinda shaky as they are trying out some new things for the Charlotte match Halloween. They played the same squad previously and it wasn’t as close but their opponents had a plan and worked their plan so hats off to them. The AU 13’s played SSA. Once again a tale of two halves. First half, SSA had a couple of chances but kept missing. AU played pretty well with their passing, always building out the back, nice combinations and were constantly on the attack. They were up 1-0 at the break. Subs come and second half begins and somehow they are down 1-4 now. A couple of changes and they score three goals in a short time frame and it’s 4-4. You would be happy with a point, hey now let’s KEEP THE BALL! Right winger gets the ball about halfway line, loses the ball trying to dribble, ball goes to the right back, he loses the ball trying to dribble, ball is crossed into the box (of course it would be right) and of course they score because one of the defenders is out of position. 4-5 at the absolute end of the match. I agree with posters who say they need to work on defending but the coaches do work on those things. I think parents have to do a better job preparing their kids for certain match situations. But it was cool to have a Tuesday night match under the lights.

Several good questions about this Unite Cup tournament. I am not aware of a full schedule being available and i don't know where to find all results so would encourage those to post scores. The bracket of teams can be found on the ATLUTD website but that is all. NASA 07 beat Atlanta Fire 4-0 and has a game against Lanier 07 in December. We find out about games about a month in advance and it seems like it is one game a month so far.

With Atlanta United having two teams in the tournament, do they mix rosters with U14 and have 07s and 08? Does the U13 team bring in 09 players? Or are they both true age group teams? With Concorde Fire, what team is playing in the tournament? I assume all the other teams involved have their top teams.

The Concorde Fire team is probably what the Platinum team would be if they had held tryouts.
