An inconvenient truth: 'I never used to go to the gym... NEVER! NOTHING! ZERO! I valued more, minutes on the pitch than minutes in the gym! LET ME BE ON THE FIELD!' Thierry Henry

Epic and respected player for what he’s done in his career but I don’t agree in today’s game at pretty much every level.

Wonder how many coaches agree from all levels that Weightlifting (Gym sessions) is a zero/never at all in player development .., I bet his own coaches would agree to disagree on muscular growth through weightlifting and/or Physical conditioning - good luck thinking HS and college aren’t instilling weightlifting sessions in their programs

Didn't read the article so this may be covered, but...
My opinion is young girls should become more and more familiar with the gym to increase leg strength. In particular Quad and hamstring which can help to avoid ACL tears.

rifle is dead on -- if you weren't given the gift of genetics, gaining upper body strength can go along way when playing a physical game, if your not born with all the gifts. i.e. smaller players for example can gain a ton using weights and gaining upper body muscle mass to physically deal with bigger players.
