I was speaking in general terms to the comment I quoted. I didn't mention anything about the Carleton thing at all, but rather that cancel culture (again, in general) is causing the loss of free speech and that is never a good thing. So where does one draw the line between 'cancel culture' and 'let the market decide'? They aren't losing free speech. They are losing money by not considering what people think about what they say. Jordan understood that. He chose not to lose money.

So where does one draw the line between 'cancel culture' and 'let the market decide'? Confused?? What does one have to do with the other? Free speech is a fundamental 'right' to all citizens , a market decision is a 'choice'... there is no line, there is either is free speech or there is not.

Free speech is a fundamental 'right' to all citizens , a market decision is a 'choice'... there is no line, there is either is free speech or there is not. There is always free speech. There's also always (hopefully) free markets. What you do with the former may decide what others do in the latter.

Who has lost free speech? No one. No one has lost free speech. No-more antitrust issues at play...but that’s a debate for a different platform...if your platform hasn’t been delisted...but I digress.

back to the thread topic:
In my opinion their are multiple factors here and both Carleton and AU are responsible for what's happened the past few years. We can argue all day, how responsible the club is or should have been -- but we have discussed this topic at great lengths. We all have agreed, boys make stupid decisions, while that is not an excuse, a process needed to be in place from day 1 to help mentor and monitor these young homegrowns. That was not done from what I've heard. This is both on and off the field.
But I'm crazy, I still think the Falcons are somewhat at fault for the Vick fiasco -- you can't invest a 100 million in a player and not know what he is doing when he leaves your training facility. Someone within the organization should have known what was going on and let ownership know to given an ultimatum to stop.
I have no idea what the process is in Europe for these young players -- my guess is they just have more experience on how to foster young talent -- AU had zero experience and it showed.
Player --- Coach ---- Managment ---- Ownership have to be on the same page
I hate to see it happen, I always enjoyed watching him play, even with that weird gait in his step, that has seemed to be fixed. Kid just made things happen.
Given he hasn't been picked up still, and camp starts in 2 weeks -- is all you need to know (unless MLS logistics is holding him back).
