Thought that it would be interesting get idea of what others thought of the various clubs was play. What clubs to you like to play against (good competition, style of play, decent fans, etc.) and what club tends to be trouble (arrogant fans, dirty play, etc.) when you play them. Out of state clubs should be included as well.
Dislike- Vestavia Hills (AL)- seems like we always have something with their fans.
Like- NASA TopHat- at our age group I like their style of play (boys).

Dislike - CFC Red Star - no matter what the age group or gender it seems there is always jawing from their parents which leads to parents almost getting into fights. It always happens. Never been a game my son has played in where their parents were just obnoxious and crazy. Their kids play like they are playing tackle football as well and if you are playing down there good luck on the referees actually calling any of it.
Like - AFC - Our club doesn't really like playing them due to rivalry and bad blood, but when we get to play them its always a very good game and peaceful as far as parents go.

Interesting topic that I'm certain will stir up some emotions
Like: Concorde- always seemed well coached. Had several players back and forth between our clubs
Dislike- We played a tourney against a club from Indiana that no longer exists. Parents were obnoxious to our kids- Coach made some disparaging comments to our girls after the game. Club shut down after police arrested the founder/coach for a relationship with one of his players.

Over the years one child has played at three clubs now so we have played and do play for some of our previous opponents... Like- NTH, CF, Weston, IMG, UFA, NCFC
Dislike- SSA (aka MMA), GSA (same issue sweep the leg Johnny), AFC (shut up parents- every time we touch your player is not a foul and when you elbow ours in the ribs and shove them down on the ground that IS a foul... the biggest group of biased people I have ever met and it goes from academy on up!), CFC Red Star

Dislike-CFC Red Star Yeah-they were a small club but at time had good talent and coaching on the boys side. It’s been a while so I don’t know what the club is like now (or if it exists anymore). On the girls side, the Auburn Thunder weren’t bad either. Again, not sure of where they are at now...

SSA definitely play MMA soccer but I do have to say we have had good matches against GSA

On the boys side, I am not a fan of SSA for the reasons mentioned. Seems to cross the line from being physical to being dirty. They are fine on the girls side.

Back when my kid was U13 or so, we really did not like playing Augusta. The teams were fine, however they had a couple of parents that constantly told their players to “play rough.” Just the way they said it.....really grated on our nerves. I am sure they meant just play physical, and their players were not dirty. Something about the way those parents drew out those words....”Plaaaaayyyyyy rooouuuggggh.”
We had parents of our own team we had to quiet a few times, so I am sure there were teams that did not like to play us either.

Trying to remember which team it was - but parents were calling to 'take out their knees'. That was nice.

It’s interesting that AFC has come up on both sides of the coin so much...wonder if it’s boys side vs girls side? Particular age group(s)?

It’s interesting that AFC has come up on both sides of the coin so much...wonder if it’s boys side vs girls side? Particular age group(s)? I have girls experience only but multiple age groups. They are awful parents in the age groups I have seen. They are obnoxious. They encourage their players to injure the opponents. They abuse the referees whether home or away (actually worse at home). They complain any time their player is contacted by the opponent even when fair play, but deny any foul their players make regardless of how egregious. It is consistent across the age groups I have dealt with.

I’ve had experience with both sides boys and girls at afc lightning and can’t think of a single bad experience. No matter home or down at McCurry, or if it’s Academy, NPL, Super Y or old fashioned Athena and Classic.
Guess it really just varies.

I think it varies a lot from year to year and age group to age group. We had two games that later resulted in apologies from the opposing coach for their team's behavior (CESA and TH). That was several years ago and we didn't have issues in later years. The most annoying parents were a Concorde team and Chiefs team. Other teams in those clubs seemed fine. Games with RYSA always seemed like there would be an injury (worst was a broken bone). Parents from random clubs outside of Atl seemed to be the most friendly (Rome, Augusta, BUSA, etc.).

We actually had no trouble with super Y, but had major issues with academy and NPL. Generally I would say their top team parents are the ones we had trouble with. In the past my kids have occasionally played their second teams and I would say it was less of an issue there but still somewhat problematic. I would not have called them out for their second team parents' behavior if I had not experienced the top team parents at the age groups I have dealt with. Same issues but less severe. Every club can have issues one time or even a couple so I can see why people have different opinions. We had one parent on my older kid's team last year (they have been at several clubs so others may have experienced him as an opponent) who picked fights with opposing parents several times. We had to separate him. He is a jerk and his kid is not nice either (to her teammates and opponents). Sometimes one bad egg can make a whole team look bad too

Well having centered and ARed for both AFC games and SSA location games. I will say AFC parents yell at me less than SSA parents do, and my kid plays for SSA.

Varies by age, and I consider kids just emotional/hormonal wrecks that should be forgiven their upbringing if really bad. Parents are the main issue(and in a few cases, coaches) but even they are just a reflection of the club. Parents/coaches do what the club allows.
Good experience: UFA, HVS, SCU FC Bad: TUSA(loud parents think they are refs), NTH(loud parents think they are coaches)

They were absolute horrific, yelling not only at refs and kids but also interacting and engaging with opposing team parents.
