Came across this and shared with some and got a bevy of responses. Figured, I'd involve the whole class and resident referees to get your thoughts, comments, feelings...

Not sure Selke(Bremen) deserved a yellow for his conduct. We see that reaction with every hard foul in EPL without a card being shown.

The defender showed the soccer IQ of a dummy. I thought his action was no different than running to the corner flag to run out the clock. He also showed a lot of composure in his response to the guy who was so upset their back line was woeful in the waning moments of the match. I wonder if he would have run up on The Zlatan like that?

...Good way to become the future beneficiary of a hard foul. (Former Defender 😬)

A card to the guy who scored seems unwarranted and baseless in my opinion

Eh, I see nothing wrong? Same as an American football player falling down at the 1-yard-line instead of scoring. Run clock, make them defend.
At least he didn't get on the ground and head it in.

Weird. Found the video only by quoting the OP and picking out the link.
Anyway.... that’s 2x ridiculous. Was the Referee looking for something to call? It appears to be an Absurd yellow on the scorer unless it was for a words we can’t hear. And the defender’s card appears pretty cringe worthy as well.

...Good way to become the future beneficiary of a hard foul. (Former Defender 😬) reminds me of many many cynical fouls suffered by CR7 in England. A good friend of mine played for Liver Pool’s academy...some words were passed between him and an Arsenal defender...said defender said something to the effect of “I’ve got your number” ...later in the game, behind the play, he got taken out...ended his career-torn ACL.

No yellow for goal scorer, absolutely a yellow for the defender.

That is horrible! Poor guy. Too bad it ended his career. Most people can get through an ACL tear but a lot of it depends on the timing (where they are in their career).

Long story short , there were complications. He never regained the movement required to play top level. Today, there are a lot more options...in ‘88, not so much.

Brazilian Football club, Chapecoense return to Brazil's top flight after year in the second division. What's so special about this you ask? Chapecoense lost almost all of their first team squad and several directors and backroom staff when their plane heading to Colombia for the Copa Sudamericana final crashed into a hillside outside Medellin.
Chape, as the club are known, beat state rivals Figueirense 2-1 to guarantee a top-four finish in Serie B with four games remaining and promotion for the 2021 season. "Winning is good. Winning the Santa Catarina state derby is better. Winning the Santa Catarina state derby and guaranteeing a return to the Serie A is SENSATIONAL!" the club tweeted after the match at an empty Conda arena.

...Don’t book a cheap flight from a Brazilian charter company.
...and Congratulations on making it back to the top flight!

I figured Goalkeepers and parents of Goalkeepers may or may not appreciate this. Either way, I got a chuckle out it...

I figured Goalkeepers and parents of Goalkeepers may or may not appreciate this. Either way, I got a chuckle out it... Yes we do. I like to show my keeper that even at a high level mistakes are part of the position and happens. Now the coaches of Academy teams need to understand that this stuff happens and not "bench" the keeper. Maybe if went in, the outcome may be warranted of a benching. I wonder in the coaches eyes that its comparable to striker missing an easy goal. (just to let you know its not) I have not seen in the academy level a striker missing an easy goal getting benched but have seen a keeper miss an easy goal getting benched. both have the same impact of a game.
