Any word which Georgia clubs might be pulling out of NPL/SAPL next year? Better option in the works (ECRL, GAL, something else?) or they no longer see the value in NPL and prefer to strengthen their sides in SCCL? Thoughts?

Do we know that ECRL is a better option or why someone would feel that way? Personally, I think they would be pretty comparable leagues. I also do not think anyone is going to try to strengthen their SCCL sides by getting rid of what they’ve called a higher league. It just removes an option, pushes kids down, which will lead to losing players.

Have you actually heard that anyone is pulling out of NPL or is this just your belief that people should leave NPL? I don't know what the hype is about ECRL. It seems like it would be the same as NPL or SCCL. Since their is already a Carolina league and Florida league, the only other states to include are Alabama and Tennessee, which both have teams in SCCL. Seems we already have ECRL, it is just called SCCL.

I'm asking so I can form an opinion. The person who told me believes the main reason his club is considering it is drop in the level. NC clubs for instance took their top or 2nd teams out of NPL and into ECRL dropping the NPL/SAPL level even more this year. One alternate could be an improved SCCL. In that sense ECRL would be more than a name change. While ECRL can help provide depth to the club ECNL teams, the hype for ECRL mainly comes from clubs that don't have ECNL because as I understand it ECRL in other states is also used as a "test league" for a club to get accepted into ECNL.

ECRL is the the path the ECNL clubs across the country are moving. Local clubs are probably resisting. The question is how smart is this resistance?
Also, if any of those LA clubs who lost DA and went into GA and ECRL actually GET ECNL, the precedent should be set for ECRL to become a "tryout" league for ECNL.

Heard NPL would become part of ECRL.

From the business stand point, it's a no brainer the last thing the Atlanta ECNL clubs would want is another ECNL club in town, or have ECRL here to facilitate the process for a feeder club become a destination club, slow the recruiting and possibly weaken the current ECNL teams. From the soccer stand point and the players, short term it's a tradeoff between having fewer but better teams and having better local competition but sightly weaker teams. While the former sounds more appealing, the long term benefits for the sport of the latter may be greater through growth IF such expansion is done right (another conversation). I also agree on the national perception but that's their reality and all that matters to them, right or wrong. Too many people get caught up in shiny league names as opposed to the value a program or league provides. Appreciating the true value of course is a lot easier said than done.
