“... But Baird also made a potentially bigger announcement, saying that U.S. Soccer is “no longer the manager of our league.” Wow!

I’ve said it for years, until Atlanta builds some type of true soccer venue they’ll never get a women’s team. Nwsl has no intention of putting a team in an indoor arena like Mercedes-Benz.

All the stars that signed with european teams, were most temporary until the nwsl got their act together. i'm a little confused.

The NWSL is for real now...so they sold their best players to Europe?

I can count on one finger how many nwsl games i've watched in the past 5 years..... That is a shame. They were accessible this spring/summer with the challenge cup and the only sport happening at that time so... They are pretty entertaining as are the FA Women's games. I have also seen UEFA Women's and those are amazing.. like watching World Cup.

From top to bottom, the nine-team NWSL is better than the 12-club WSL, but Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are top class, and others, such as Manchester United, are showing ambition after launching women’s programs in recent years. Many NWSL players have left in recent weeks but on short-term contracts and loans. This is not unusual; it’s just earlier in the year than usual. Most, if not all, should return in 2021...(fingers crossed)

This is my question- where to play? Kennesaw seems too far for most around the city but probably the best venue. Silverbacks could be nice but would need loads of upgrades.

Maybe Truist Park or Center Parc Stadium. If Bobby Dodd ever went turf that would be almost perfect, but they don’t want to tear up the grass with soccer. Pretty sure all the NWSL teams play in soccer specific parks so they’ll need to build one. Maybe Atl United will build a complex for the Au2 team to play in too.

FYI....Bobby Dodd is already turf....no permanent lines on the field.....and turf was installed wide enough for soccer.

Though playing on a college campus probably not ideal for the league but could be an option for a short term spot until a soccer stadium is built.
