Anyone have any thoughts about a good medium range competitive tournament for pre-academy & U9 academy boys? I'm looking at Impact Premier Cup, Triumph and Athens United Finale. We'd liked to do two so anything and everything you have would be great. This academy world is still new to me since I've always coach the older ages.

UFA Fall Classic would probably be your best bet for post season fall tournament.

Norcross's Nike cup, now the Norcross Generation adidas cup always brings in a few decent younger u9 teams. dec 6 & 7. challenger cup isn't bad either, well run tournament and the competition is starting to get better.

I would keep an eye on the Triumph and Athens Tourneys unless you are a really good team. I have seen teams get pounded at that Norcross Tourney. It attracts a lot of the top teams, and at that age group, if they don't have a lot of teams, you can get lumped in with them. Just something to think about. You want to end the season on a good note at that age!

I have learned as a coach that the bigger tournaments offer more variety of competition. If you have a mid to lower level team and show up at a smaller tournament you are most likely going to run into a team that will steamroll you because the don't have the top bracket teams showing up. Go to the bigger tournaments and get placed appropriately.
My recommendations, Triumph Cup, GSA tournament in December, Norcross, UFA?
