For those selected: March 5/6…(replacing the original Feb 20/21 dates, plans to co-host with FL)
April 10/11…this weekend looks highly likely and we are looking at option to host this weekend in GA
May 22-23…highly tentative at this point…just as a “potential” date for now
June 11-13…Texas Sub-Regional; as discussed in past…this is a “go” and for 2004 to 2010 ages
This is final Sub-Regional event for the US Youth Soccer’s South Region and pointing to the Region event in July (below)
July 6-18 (4-5 day events for boys and girls respectively)…USYS South Region Selection Event for Inter-Regional selections
For those that were involved in the former camp models of Region Camp in past Summers) Note that the July event has transitioned to player based instead of team based We are working with other states & South Region in an effort to host part of this event in GA Currently, the option considered is also to have in Columbia, SC
November…in FL, Inter-Regional event for invited players and selection of USYS Region teams
This event closes out the 2020-21 ODP year cycle
We are also very pleased to do planning looking out to even next year’s ODP cycle and also to host Georgia’s first Sub-Regional event:
GA ODP Sub-Regional…December 18-19, 2021
TN ODP Sub-Regional…January 15-17, 2022

Thank you for posting Where will the March event be? You are most welcome. Don’t know yet-supposed to be a GA/Fl collaboration. I just hope wherever it is that they have turf...especially since it’s March.

GAvFL ... Feb 27-28 girls and Mar 6-7 boys to replace Feb 20-21 but nothing is confirmed yet. Too many conflicts for one or the other I hear, we should know next week.

Anyone heard any more on these possible Feb 27/28 or March 5/6 dates? We have been told Feb 27/28 is the girls weekend and March 5/6 is the boys weekend (hosted by Florida). Also, the communication we received stated 2007 - 2009 age groups (2010 to play up). Since we are part of the '07 group we have been asked for availability and we are thinking it will be 2 teams, though not 100% positive of that.

So is the girls weekend in GA? And boys weekend in FL? Is this just GA and FL teams participating, or are other states from Region 3 joining in?

...looking like March 5-7 is a no go (canceled) FL.
April 10-11…still the weekend where we will be hosting · The 11th is the return leg of the SC matchups in Georgia
· FL and NC expressed interest in playing us this weekend – we are waiting for updates from them to confirm
Saturday, April 10th
Sunday, April 11th
ALL age groups/genders, for entire weekend
May 22-23…highly tentative at this point…just as a “potential” date for now – NC expressed an interest but player availability may be tough - NO ACTION needed here at this time…
June 11-13…Texas Sub-Regional; as discussed in past…this is a “go” and for 2004 to 2010 ages / This is final Sub-Regional event for the US Youth Soccer’s South Region and pointing to the Region event in July (below) ALL age groups/genders, for entire weekend
July 6-15…Region Camp (info noted below)
November…in FL, Inter-Regional event for invited players and selection of USYS Region teams / This event closes out the 2020-21 ODP year cycle

Why did the boys cancel? Was it availability or related to Covid?

On the girls side we have not been informed of FL being cancelled. Then again we haven't received specific information on location, other than it is in FL.

It is not a definite no go but it looks to be that way at this time because of FL high school games and club schedules was the answer I received.. Like I’ve said before, with ODP, I’m never sure of anything until the week of...

From what I heard '07-'09 girls Feb 27-28 are a go in FL (Orlando or Tampa), but boys Mar 6-7 are a no go ... something about conflicts, no surprise with all clubs, tourneys, leagues and HS there can't be much of anything with ODP in March.

Because Kostas is over his head and trying to play politician and appease everyone. If he had told parents straight up that zero of these events had been actually planned and confirmed then half of the families wouldn’t have signed up back in the Fall. In three years we’ll be talking about how ODP failed again and MLSNext is the greatest thing ever.

COVID is a huge factor but I would rather them stick to a schedule and make folks other than the athletes where masks and have sanitation stations.
The issue with the 06 age group is that some are 8th graders while others are 9th graders. They scheduled practices based on 8th grade availability.
Planning is hard ... we just have to be patient.

It wouldn't exactly be shocking. These are tough times more or less for everyone, let's give people the benefit of the doubt.

Any thoughts on how FL event went last weekend? Good games? If I'm remembering correctly, during the girls weekend, there were 12 total games played (4 each age group '07, '08, '09/'10). To my knowledge the overall Georgia record was 1-11.

I'm curious where the person posting Georgia went 1-11 last weekend got that information.
First off, there were some great games played at the level we see in ECNL. Venue and hotel were fantastic and within walking distance.
There were 8 games 9v9 decided by a single goal or tie, with 2009 and 2010 groups and GA/FL ether split games or went 2-3-3, not sure.
There were 8 games 11v11 with 2007 and 2008 where GA went 0-5-3, all except 3 games were very competitive. A couple points to make here 1) FL treated these games like they played for a National Championship, and 2) several top GA players were not available. It happens at ODP when you travel 8 hours away.
Interestingly enough the ODP staff also held training sessions for goalkeepers and field players, thought was a nice touch.
Most families stayed at Champions Gate, siblings everywhere, so there was plenty of chatter around and while there was some frustration with one older group in particular, the majority of people seemed very positive and pleased. And again, Champions Gate is an amazing place to stay and also play.
