I understand tryouts for next year are in May, but I was wondering if I could get some tips or advice on how to have your child tryout for multiple clubs during the limited tryout period. Our son has played at the same club since junior academy so we are not sure how do this at the U13+ level. How many days are you expected to attend when trying out for a new club and is it possible to try out for like 3 clubs?

I suggest you create a wishlist of top-4 clubs and teams. Try #1 on day 1, after the tryout talk to the coach and see how your kid did. If you don't get the offer, move on to team 2 for day 2 and so on. My kid attended 3 different club tryouts before U13 year. Got our 2nd choice pick. After 3 years on that team we're about to do it again for U16.
Find out if the clubs/teams is doing any pre-tryout camps and attend a few of those for different clubs so they know who your kid is before tryouts.

And what if your current club is in the top 4, when should you attend? We know they mostly look at the new kids at tryouts.

Is your current club your top choice? If not then I'd say day 3. Is your kid on the top team at your current club? If so things might get complicated.

- I would attend as many pre-tryout ID camps as possible. Don't just attend, take the time to speak to the coach after the session and try to get a sense of where your child stands. This will help you decide what your exact plan is going into tryouts.
- Sign up for as many tryouts as you wish to attend. Pay attention to times & locations because you might be able to double up on certain days. I know a couple years ago my daughter was able to attend tryouts at 2 different clubs on the same day because of how the times were scheduled.
- Create a priority list of where you would prefer to be and attend tryouts in that order. Most coaches look at players on night 1 as those that really want to be at that club. So, be aware that the later in the week you show up for the first time, the lower on the list you will start because a coach is going to assume you aren't that interested in the program.
- Be flexible. Just because you create a schedule doesn't mean it is set in stone. Be willing to adjust based on things you hear/see at each session.
As for when to attend you current club, I think it depends on where they are on your list. If you want to stay then you go first night. If you want to leave, but want them to be a backup, then you go later in the week. Unfortunately the later you go in the week, the higher the likelihood you get offered a lower team than you are currently on. Keep in mind people will be getting offers every night, and a lot will be accepting them. So, spots will fill up.

Don’t over think it.. 1. Does he/she like the players and coach’s 2. Is your child improving. 3. Are they having fun. 4. Distance traveling to practice/games manageable.
If their getting bored, not challenged and not improving.. then leave. If their having fun, like the players, being challenged, improving then don’t leave.
The grass is hardly ever greener..

Maybe bring a close friend(s) who are equal or better in skill to make it worth the directors time.

Contact the other coaches ahead of tryouts. Plenty of spots are given away beforehand.
I've personally seen a high level team give out 5 spots before tryouts in a high-turnover year.

Yes, contact the coaches ahead of time. Depending on the level, age, and club size of the team you are trying for tryouts can be completely meaningless to somewhat important
