I am so glad to see the top clubs in Georgia sign up to play each other in a tournament! Tophat 08 and 07 GA Gold teams both signed up to play in a Concorde tournament. I am excited to see how the games go. Glad to see some out of ECNL southeast region teams come into too (Tennessee). This tournament looks like it is in the best interest of the kids!
Another bonus is that Concorde decided to use turf fields. Hallelujah! I am so glad my child won't be playing in the mud pit that is the YMCA field next to Marist!

Lots of soccer to be played but the way the brackets are set, can't help looking ahead at that potential final! Agreed great group and look for the tournament also for area youth soccer. Hope its a precursor to the older age group tourneys later in the spring.

Surprised for the 08s top division they would put Concorde Platinum and Concorde Premier on the same side of the bracket. That seems pretty usual to do in your own tournament.

Actually, I take that back. Concorde seems to have set the brackets evenly.
In the fall, Alabama finished 1st at 8-0, platinum 2nd at 8-0, Premier 4th at 5-3-1 and then UFA at 10th.
On the other side, GSA finished 3rd at 6-0, TSC finished 2nd (difference conference) at 4-0-1 and Tophat Gold finished 1st in GAL. I don't know what league team boca plays in but they appear to be pretty good.

I think at the beginning of the fall there was some talk about who would be the best 08 team in the area. Tophat, GSA and CF are ranked in top 5 by Topdrawersoccer.

Unless BOCA is actually a pretty weak team but judging by their results I would think they are not.

I believe TH and CF will play in the finals. TH is big, fast, strong, and very skilled. They will be tough for anyone to beat. By looking at common opponents during the season it seems that CF doubled the score against those opponents that them and GSA have faced. Not sure if that means anything.

Anyone have any idea if Concorde Premier 08 girls are actually out of the Concorde Tournament? They were pulled out of the SSA tournament this passed weekend with rumored multiple COVID cases and exposure and are thought to be out this weekend too. If they are out any idea if Concorde will replace them or just give forfeit wins in their bracket?

Strong showing by Team Boca and Concorde Platinum in 08s. Love seeing all these top teams actually play each other. Still think that we see Platinum vs Tophat in the final. Utterly ridiculous these 2 dont play on a regular basis.

Doesn’t look like the highly anticipated 07 CF Platinum vs Tophat Gold matchup isn’t going to happen 😐 Tophat and GSA on the tough side of the bracket with all games 1-1, 0-0, or 1-0. Regardless of the winners I think it is great that it is that competitive. The kids are learning skills which is why they are all out there. Glad to see them play local teams. I wish the 08 bracket had not lost two teams to COVID. Despite all of the ECNL/DA now ECNL/GA discussions it would be nice if the local teams can continue to so this and play the top clubs against the top clubs regardless of league.

Agreed. Though I feel like the clubs DO need to play out of state teams too because it does get boring playing the same teams over and over and over. I know some people say the travel is not necessary but I think it is. I just feel like the tournaments have gotten political with certain clubs not playing in certain tournaments. That needs to stop. The best local teams need to play each other even if it is just friendlies. Let the club directors get over their hurt feelings or egos and let the kids play!!!

True-playing out of state is fine, but that could be accomplished with tournaments...that way you don’t travel to Knoxville to play one game... Unless you like that kind of misery...😬

What happened in the game? Wasn’t Concorde expected to win the game? Both teams had 07’s that normally play up on the 06 teams, and the one who plays for GSA (forward) is phenomenal. In addition that the GSA team has some strong players. CF won the Alabama game and the AFU game on last minute goals. They were really close competitive games but bottom line was CF just wouldn’t quit until the whistle blew. Great playing all around.

Did anyone see the Tophat 08 Concorde Platinum? Tophat had decisive wins over both GSA and Concorde this weekend. First half was pretty even. 0-0 at halftime. Tophat got it going in the second half, Concorde looked like they ran out of gas, but they kept fighting till the end. Good game, definitely the top 2 teams in GA in that age group. They both by far play the best style of soccer. TH has great chemistry! Hopefully they'll play each other again. I overheard someone say that TH had a player missing with a hamstring injury and that Concorde had 3 starters missing with hamstring injuries. Does anyone know what happened to GSA 08 team? I thought that they would definitely do better than 1 point all tournament? We're they missing any key players? So i was able to watch some of GSA TH 08 second half, and all of hte TH Concorde 08 Final. I must have missed all of TH's Goals against GSA, but I did see GSA score one goal, and although they missed, they should have tapped in a second. The GSA vs TH game seemed to be more even in terms of possession, but TH still looked to be the better team in terms of their technical ability, movement off the ball, and chemistry. For the final, TH absolutely controlled the game from start to finish. They didn't score in the first half, but they still controlled the ball for most of that half. In the second it looked as if CF was outmatched. They let up 4 goals and scored 1. However, they could have easily let up another 2-3 as a TH player had a few 1 v 1's with the keeper and missed, one of those misses was to an open net. I am confused at one comment though. Why is CF considered in the Top 2? Not only did they lose by more to TH, they have also lost to GSA's 08's earlier in the season. Am I missing something where a team is considered better than a team that they lost to?

Am I missing something where a team is considered better than a team that they lost to? This is a pretty accurate assessment. TH in both GSA and CF games also didn't play several of their starters and stronger players for a lot of those two matches (especially in the final) as the games seemed to be in control. But to be fair TH is very deep so all the kids are very good. The GSA game seemed to be a more competitive match than the CF game did. Both games could have easily had 2 or 3 more goals on TH's side with missed one v one chances, crossbars, etc. (GSA also had one they should have scored). As far as injuries TH had a starter not play this weekend because of a previous injury and she was replaced with a Navy player. They also had a couple kids beat up by the time of the final. CF had a couple players beat up by the final as well but none missing. GSA also had none missing. Play 3 or 4 games in two days and there will probably always be some "hurt" players even in the very short games that this tournament had. Hopefully these games happen again but based on this weekend I think it is pretty clear who the better 08 team is in the city.

I too can agree with you in terms of TH being the better team in the city. But i will not let them off that easy. They did indeed lose a game in this tournament, and they do have a team that is comprised of at least 75% of players that united at TH from other clubs about a year ago. So I personally expect them to be the best team in the state. Most all star teams are. lol I also hope they are granted a team in ECNL, so these games can regularly occur. With all of this being said, it makes for a great off season, because i'm sure the recruitment process of players from all 3 of these teams has officially started.

Yes they did lose their first game in a very controversial way but loss none the less. TH did not look very good in that game. I mean best team in the city and best team in the state is kind of the same thing isn't it . Regardless of the leagues the games should happen a couple times a year just to play them. If they are in the same league that's cool if they are not that's cool too. Just play the game to play the game. There were a lot of people from all over the city watching 12 and 13 year old girls soccer yesterday. it was pretty cool to see.
