Now - can someone remind me who is in the Georgia Alliance? Not sure if you're being sarcastic with your question but it looks like it's a club based in Cobb County. I'd never heard of it so it may be a new club.

I think that is the group that formed after NTH acquired Smyrna Soccer Club.

Hmmm - that's odd - given that "Georgia Rush" doesn't really go by that name since merging with Chiefs FC last year.

is Impact connected with the old Cherokee club? Very hard to keep up... Cherokee County Soccer Association became Cherokee Soccer Association which ran the Redwings and Knights select programs. Then rebranded to become Cherokee Impact and now Georgia Impact. Alex Pama and Shane Moore have been running the club for nearly 20 years.

Yes, GA Alliance is a small club that formed after NTH acquired Smyrna Soccer Club two years ago. The program is small, but highly competitive including three boys NL teams (2002, 2006, and 2008), a full academy program, and several GPL teams. Also placed 2 players into the Atlanta United academy this year. The club practices out of Campbell Middle School in Smyrna. www.gafccobb.comSide note - in addition to Greg Garza as Director of Player Development, former Atlanta United player Mark Bloom is a coach as well of one of the NL teams. Great small club with a loyal family atmosphere!

Isn’t Garza still playing in MLS or has he retired? It’s my understanding that this is a very tiny club, less than a 100 kids. So just trying to make sense of this. Just doesn’t add up. Not to get in a debate of which league outranks the other league. I know there are some folks who believe that National League is the bees knees. But I think the term “highly competitive” is grossly over exaggerated as the 06 and 08 National league teams mentioned haven’t won a game according to the site.I think their opponents would have something to say about them being highly competitive.

Second year in club existence, closer to 200 kids, one team who went to the final in state cup. You’re correct about the 06 NL team - very rough season due to multiple major injuries and Covid. The 08 team is just getting started in NL. Give them some time to settle in and they’ll be great.
No need to debate leagues. Clearly Garza and Bloom are interested in top class development and not alphabet soup.

Let’s call it what it is. A marketing ploy for a club trying to stay relevant or even in existence. Rumor is many families ready to jump ship as they are tired of all the travel as they spend hours in the cars to just get games because they don’t have anyone in town to play. Their 09 group is supposed to be a good team, but looking for something higher level that what Cherokee and Georgia soccer can give them. SSA and NTH have them locked out so they can announce having Messi on their staff. Going to be the same result.

Ha. There’s clearly an agenda here in which I’m not interested in continuing. You do you Meggers and good luck to your club. I’m not sure why a “tiny” club would cause such concern for the big guys to be interested in locking them out.
The proof is in the pudding and marketing ploy or not, both of these coaches are out working with kids each night on the field so that’s a win for all families involved.

Ha no agenda, other than just calling it as it needs to be called. Makes sense now if Garza’s kids play there why he would be willing to be on “staff”.
