Thought this would be an interesting thread: What positions are certain age groups in need of for next season? With movement and girls phasing in and out there is usually a few spots the coach or team need: So for rising u15-17 at the local ecnl clubs anything specifically a club need? I’m especially interested to hear answers for Atlanta Fire who continue to struggle in the standings? I think this could be beneficial for both club and players as it’s an unofficial way to help focus and help both clubs and players who have specific needs

Because UFA Norcross 07G Premier badly needs a goalkeeper next year. And actually the UFA Forsyth 07G Premier team (in NPL) also needs a keeper. Theirs recently quit.

Great point: So SCCL and ECNL teams if you know you are losing a player or are in need of a position and informal recommendation might help to guide players to contact your club and come to tryouts more suited for them and the club

With two clubs (SSA & AFC) adding GAL and Concorde now having to field two ECNL teams without SSA, I suspect change is coming just about everywhere.

...And actually the UFA Forsyth 07G Premier team (in NPL) also needs a keeper. Theirs recently quit. I could be wrong but I was under the impression that they have a solid keeper now. Edit: But now that I think about it, it’s possible that UFA Norcross 06G Premier (SCCL C), and UFA Forsyth 05G Red need keepers. That may have changed too.

With two clubs (SSA & AFC) adding GAL and Concorde now having to field two ECNL teams without SSA, I suspect change is coming just about everywhere. That is a given of the soccer landscape over the last 6 years. We know that changes will occur. This post is to help parents and players know the opportunities that are available so that they can target the right situation. Here is what we know so far, - if your daughter is a 2007 goalie (or 2008 that wants to play up) that would like to play at the SCCL club level and lives within a reasonable distance of Pickneyville Soccer park, you should reach out to someone at UFA Norcross about the opportunity
- if your daughter is a 2007 goalie (or 2008 that wants to play up) that would like to play at the NPL level and lives within a reasonable distance of UFA Forsyth, you should reach out to someone at UFA Forsyth about the opportunity

Any advice to for unknown goalies (just starting out in that position?) What age? Are you changing clubs? With just starting out at the position what league are you realistically looking to join? I'd start to find and send him or her to as many keeper trainings as possible to try and get in front of the club's keeper coaches and ask them if your child has a chance to make a team you're looking for. Assuming the child is still U15 and playing in the spring the club's keeper trainings are ongoing and maybe you can get a look that way. It won't be easy being an unknown that hasn't played the position, and if you admit that to the club they may just direct you to SCCL-P tryouts in May.

With two clubs (SSA & AFC) adding GAL and Concorde now having to field two ECNL teams without SSA, I suspect change is coming just about everywhere. For sure more changes are on the way and they won't stop soon. Also while CF having 2 ECNL spots (for now) will help them recruit some players including 1-2 SSA teams already playing ECNL in CF uniforms, I think CF's 2nd ECNL teams (Premier) will struggle far more than SSA ever did playing under CF Premier. At the end of the day only CF Platinum and GSA have really shown well consistently over the years. Those other CF Premier (except a couple SSA ones) and most AFU teams have been too weak for ECNL. Comparing ECNL to GA with NTH, SSA and AFC I still give the slight edge to ECNL for now in Georgia. But down the road getting GA will help both SSA and AFC to not only stop bleeding talent but also recruit better and that may tilt the scale the other way and give the competitive advantage to GA over ECNL in Georgia at least. And this might happen faster if UFA ever decided to join GA with its top teams. With DPL and ECRL also in play as good alternates to 2nd teams for the big clubs or top teams to next tier/size clubs (matter of time before ECRL happens here too), I don't see how SCCL or SAPL/NPL or any other US Club league can stay relevant much longer. They'll be as competitive as those Georgia Soccer leagues or what's left of them.

Forsyth 07G Premier had one in the fall but she recently quit, which I didn't know until this week. So apparently they’ve pulled a keeper up to the NPL team. That’s something that goes against what many of us have experienced at soccer clubs. Often we (I’m including myself in this statement) talk about how soccer club culture doesn’t typically promote from within. So that’s a good thing. I’ve been told she’s pretty good. Regarding the UFA Norcross 06 team, even with guest keepers they’re a strong SCCL Club 06 teams. My daughter has helped them. The coach, Sam H, is fantastic. When I found out that he’s running the UFA Summer 06 team I told my daughter, and she said, “sign me up!” They’ll need a keeper for Fall 2021. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with UFA now that NPL seems to be drying up in Atlanta.

I read a press release somewhere (probably on this site - but I verified it on the GA/DPL site) that DPL is now OFFICIALLY the second tier league to GA but I have yet to see anything official that NPL as a league is defunct not have I seen anything that ECRL is happening in just a matter of time. As far as US CLUB no longer being relevant isn’t ECNL a US CLUB program? Why would ECNL no longer be relevant? Especially since everyone is convinced that ECRL is happening and that’s also US Club

Especially since everyone is convinced that ECRL is happening and that’s also US Club While ECNL and ECRL are run by US Club they are not really advertised as US Club because they have a whole different board and are run separately on the girls side. They're sanctioned by US Club but it is still run differently. I think that was what was meant.

Not just 2 clubs adding GAL, Interatlanta has been granted GAL as well. All of a sudden at minimum you have 5 GAL teams: 2 Tophat, interatlanta, SSA and AFC

I heard lots of folks says they were in then last-minute they weren't. Anyone know?

Interatlanta was announced as a DPL team. Not announced as a GA team. The GA announced regularly on their social media. GA has DPL as their second tier (which was announced several months ago) and will promote clubs that do well in DPL. Basically GA and ECNL are using their second tier as a proving ground. I applaud both leagues for this. I do not think it would have been announced as DPL first if they had been accepted into GA. The other local clubs were announced as GA and then later that they had DPL.
