With the expansion of GAL and DPL local teams, plus already having the amount of ECNL teams, who is left in NPL? Also when ECRL comes to Georgia is even SCCL Club moving forward no better than an old Athena A or B back in Georgia Soccer hey day

When ECRL comes to Georgia?
Have decisions been made?
Just because we say it doesn’t make it so

They make all the decisions and count their Benjamins. Why would the big 5 accept ECRL and lose control, lose money and dilute their own product? Make zero sense unless there is a civil war. Follow the damn money.

Follow the damn money. Exactly. In Georgia, SCCL Club=ECRL. SCCL Club already includes a team from Alabama and a team from Tennessee. If other quality clubs can be added from those states, SCCL Club would cover everything that ERCL would cover. The biggest hurdle with adding new Tennessee teams is that girls play high school in the fall and boys play high school in the spring. Makes it difficult to juggle for U15 and above.

They could enter them in more showcases (ECRL will have some concurrent showcases with ECNL next year) and thus they could practice more in spring and thus charge more money. Just my 2 cents

SCCL in general most certainly is not dead. SCCL - Premier will most likely stick around for a long time as I don't believe the big 5/6 will re-enter Georgia Soccer anytime soon.
As for SCCL - Club, I think some changes will be made, and ECRL might be the re-branded name. It wouldn't be bad IMO as there are a lot of second team players in SCCL who are interested in playing college soccer and ECRL will give better name recognition than SCCL...especially outside Georgia / Alabama.
- We have already seen the Premier-1 winner from the fall be promoted for the spring at U14 & lower. I am thinking the same might happen after the spring for those age groups, though that starts to get away from the "Club" aspect of the league. - It also wouldn't surprise me to see FC Alliance relegated to Premier, or not come back at all. From what I could tell, I think they have lower level teams entered, and they finished bottom 3 in every age group for boys & girls. - Personally I would like to see a second Alabama team added, in somewhat close proximity to BUSA.
In general for SCCL-C, I would like to see 10-12 overall teams, split into 2 divisions. Play each team in your division 2 times, and each team in the other division once. That is 13 - 16 games a season, which I think is reasonable.

SCCL is here to stay -- it's club controlled and is essentially their version of classic 1-IV and athena A - E

Soccerhouse
Which in a perfect world made it so much easier like it’s was all GA Soccer unless you played ECNL as a girl or DA as a boy
Now after ECNL (or GA) it’s all the middle ground that’s for everyone all wrung out
DPL or ECRL or NPL or SCCL CLUB
There is no way to empirically evaluate all that middle ground
Impossible situations for clubs, college coaches, parents and players to navigate
Not to mention in most age groups in Georgia in ECNL how do decide between a lower ranked ECNL team your player will likely not be a starter as the new kid on the block and a top level player on a next tier team where they are playing every minute but your being told no one looks at the second tier leagues for college

ECRL is coming because ECNL wants it. Plus I doubt ECNL give SCCL any choice when they go to AFU, GSA, CF and UFA and tell them they need to send second teams into ECRL or risk losing ECNL. Think NASATophat doesn’t jump at the chance at sending their boys 2nd team and 3rd/4th girls team to ECRL. Imagine SSA having a branch play GAL and one playing ECRL. I know SSA Northside would jump at sending their top teams to ECRL while SSA Blue/Black build those GAL and DPL teams.
Don’t think Santos, Ambush, Rush, Inter, Athens, or these other clubs that want a solid spot for their top or second team (to NLP) in ECRL as ECRL applications are open to individual teams, boys or girls, or the entire club.
Covid slowed things down but I wouldn’t be surprised if this news drops in April.

That seems to be a sticking point with both ECNL or ERCL. The nice thing about SCCL-C is that it keeps all of the big local clubs playing each other. It is the only league where it is happening. If ECRL enters Georgia, it will likely be the end of all of the big clubs playing each other in the regular season. The landscape will be divided into GAL clubs and ENCL clubs. UFA, Concorde, GSA, and Atlanta Fire will have their teams in ECNL and ECRL. NTH, SSA, and AFC will have their teams in GAL and DPL.

Do you think SCCL-CLUB then becomes the true THIRD tier for the BIG CLUBS? UFA (well it will be Norcross), Concorde, GSA, AFU, NTH, SSA all have enough teams at most age groups to send third teams to SCCL

What if clubs like Santos, Ambush, Rush, that keep SCCL Club at a decent level, and even Inter become more relevant if they're awarded GA or ECNL? The first 3 want ECRL as an opportunity for ECNL in the future, just as Inter is hoping for GA.
Will the top SCCL players from the 3rd teams of the bigger clubs then look perhaps to join those teams? The level in SCCL will drop quite a bit. But even if ECRL happens, I still doubt SCCL is going away as it guarantees games close to home to all the lower level teams of the big clubs, and will likely attract small metro clubs from Ga soccer who don't want to travel for hours to Savannah, Tifton etc etc ...

I think the biggest difference is that Charlotte Independence is a member of ECNL, while NTH & SSA are not. Since it is all political, it is possible both NTH & SSA would be told they need to place their second teams in ECRL if it comes to Atlanta. I don't agree, as I would prefer to see all the top Atlanta teams in a single league. However, I'm not the one making the decisions and running the league.

2021: NTH - GA (1st and 2nd teams), DPL (3rd team), SCCL (4th team) SSA - GA (1st team), DPL? (2nd team), SCCL (3rd team) AFC - DPL (1st team?), GA Soccer? (2nd team) Inter Atlanta - NL/GPL (1st team), DPL (2nd team? or will it be an adjunct league for 1st team?) CF - ECNL (1st and 2nd teams), SCCL (3rd team) GSA - ECNL (1st team), SCCL (2nd team) AFU - ECNL (1st team), SCCL (2nd team) UFA - ECNL (1st team), NPL? (2nd team), SCCL (3rd team) Roswell - Is AFC still in NPL next year or are they going all-in on DPL in order to get GA spot. What is Roswell's plan? The 4 ECNL clubs should move to ECRL for 2nd teams, lest their 2nd teams be left behind while the GA/DPL clubs don't consider SCCL a viable option for 2nd teams...so neither should the ECNL clubs.

Good way to put things into context! The ECRL debate hits a little different when you visualize it this way.

While we are kind of on the subject, what is the deal with NTH taking two different paths for boys and girls? From the club's perspective, it seems odd to support an organization on the boys side while the girls are excluded. On the flip side, from the ECNL perspective, it seems odd to keep the girls of the club out when the boys are part of your organization. Is NTH really 2 different clubs--Nasa and Tophat?

If you have been around long enough you would remember NASA girls teams were very good and they had a lot of players. Not sure what NASA boys got out of the merger except possibly the ability to share coaches? Who knows. That was a long time ago.
