“ The addition of these three clubs will elevate competition within the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast conferences, respectively.”
Interesting as the South Carolina teams, CESA and SC United are in the Mid Atlantic conferences. With the addition of Surf and Skyline the Mid Atlantic would have 18 teams next year so I wonder if they’re moving those 3 SC teams into the current 11 team Southeast conference with GA, TN, and AL.

SC Surf: MLS Next Hoover Vestavia Hills: MLS Next AFC: girls have announced GAL so where will boys go? UFA, Triangle FC, Charleston FC: no announcement The ECNL announcement says SC Surf is ECNL, not MLS Next. Will those MLS Next clubs just field lower-level teams in NPL? or switch them to USYS/state leagues to align with MLS affiliation? Interesting bit about SE v MA conference realignment in another post. Would that mean ECRL coming to SE ECNL?

When will UFA make an announcement about what it is going with regards to NPL?

I guess MLS Next does not have a second tier league (maybe tiers within the league?) and there is no ECRL in SE ECNL country, so maybe NPL stays afloat, just diluted a bit with lower tier teams? Is that too much travel for 2nd/3rd level teams?
How will MLS Next and USL Academy mesh? If they are both 10 month seasons will kids decline so they can play HS sports?

Wake was just announced dpl as well. Leaves just ufa and birmingham in npl. UFA needs to announce something soon or else people will start lining things up elsewhere.

UFA would be good if ECRL happens in the Southeast but if clubs are blocking it in order to keep SCCL UFA would make sense to go GA and DPL. I would expect ECRL would happen sooner rather than later in the SE. It is in most all other regions. It wouldn't make sense to exclude the SE when you have an ECNL conference there

I believe there will be two leagues within MLS Next. Much like they did between DA and GA Cup. So AU would play all the local/regional MLS Next teams like Tormenta/SSA/Vestavia/Jacksonville, but also play an MLS only set of games against the likes of Charlotte/Orlando/Inter-Miami/Nashville. For the record, this is what I think will happen, since an MLS only programming is in the works currently...

With (Hoover) Vestavia getting into MLSnext I doubt they will also be able to field a second team in an NPL or equivalent league. I'm sure NPL will scramble to find new clubs in the South Atlantic but doubt any from Alabama.

Alabama shoots themselves in the foot with regards to soccer. There are a limited number (3-5 I think) of travel players that can play on a middle or high school soccer team. Not sure of their reasoning unless they want to have rec players...
Updated-the number is six-just went to their bylaws. They are also not allowed to train with their travel team will participating in middle/high school soccer.

bogan is that rule players from the same team, or players in general. And how do they define travel players - anything above true rec or do they actually define what a travel player truly is? Their are rec teams in Atlanta that travel for example.

Go to AHSAA-soccer

“ SECTION 6. OUTSIDE PARTICIPATION RULE. A student who is a member of any school athletic team (grades 7-12) may not participate (includes practice) on a non-school team in the same sport during the school season of that sport. A student who is a member of any member school athletic team may not participate on a non-school team’s activity. Note: In soccer, during the school’s soccer season, one outside activity (showcase, ID camp, college tryout, Olympic Develop Program [ODP], etc.) per month per student is permitted with coach and principal approval. The 50% rule remains in effect. (Outside participation, including practice or tryouts, with a club team is not an approved outside activity.) Note: Private individual instruction is not considered an outside sports activity. Private individual instruction is one-on-one instruction between one athlete and one instructor and cannot be instruction with another player or groups of players.”
“ (B) FIFTY PERCENT RULE: Participation (includes practice) during the school year on a non-school team outside the school season by students that will play the following season on the same high school varsity or junior varsity/B-team (grades 7-12) is limited to 50 percent of the number of players required to play the game-six in soccer.”
