i know there was some discussion on this issue on the thread link about the u20 and womens world cup, but would love more insight on the different formations, particulary why ecnl would be "all" playing a 4-3-3. www.gasoccerforum.com/thread/519/u20-womens-world-cupanyone have insight on the differences of these formations? our team seems to be the perfect fit for a 4-5-1. we have three natural center mids, and a left footer playing outside and another player with crazy speed on the right side. both are fit and can get up and down. our sole striker is exactly that, big, strong and demands attention.

I view the 4-5-1 as a more defensive & counterattacking formation against stronger & direct teams. The midfield is stronger, though not as much a 4-2-3-1 with the two holding mids. The trouble is getting enough players into the box on attack.

We've been playing a 4-3-3 at U13 and the team has been struggling to play well for a full match. I think the problem is 3 up front is too many and there is a tendency to get overrun in midfield. I would rather we played a 4-4-2 diamond or 4-2-3-1.
