Poor coaching.
Coaching only 2-3 of the core players and not the team.
No responsiveness to team problems.
Has anyone ever had any luck getting the player out of the club prior to the end of the spring season?
Basically just a bad overall experience.

Gotcha-unfortunately I don’t know that much about Savannah United’s hierarchy. Hopefully someone from that part of the state can give you some insight.

Have you ever heard of a club that would rather have a player sit out for the year instead of releasing them, even after they paid all of the club/team fees?

Have you ever heard of a club that would rather have a player sit out for the year instead of releasing them, even after they paid all of the club/team fees? I’ve heard of it happening but never witnessed it once the players financial obligations were met. |

Yes sadly SSA Savannah United is a poor club. Talent has left that club the last couple of years in waves. Especially with Tormenta becoming better and better. We haven’t had to deal with it, but friends down there made the mistake of starting there in Academy.
I haven’t heard a player not being released in years (GSA and Concorde) but reach out to GASoccer if they are making it difficult. Once you pay up, they can’t keep you anymore.
Also, depending on which club you’re moving to you may not need Sav United to release your kid. Pretty sure they are not USClub so any USClub can sign you right away. Might be the same if you move to a SC Youth Soccer from GA Soccer.

Did they leave SSA or did SSA drop them? That I don't know but given that there wasn't a lot of news on it and it just happened leads me to believe that either SSA dropped them or they mutually decided it was not in their best interest to move forward with their arrangement. My SSA playing son played them in the academy years in a little "festival" where we spent the weekend in Savannah a few years ago. The teams we played seemed well coached at that point but that was years ago. |

I'm not associated with them, but I know a bunch of those guys up here, and this surprises me a little bit, though I won't say it "shocks" me.
Especially given the association with the club in Florida.
