I agree that Florida should not have one all to themselves and/or Virginia should not have been in with SC, NC and Georgia. Virginia usually has some darn good players yet only 2 or 3 were from Virginia. I was also very surprised that only one 06 was taken for our region.

The Florida one had seven 06s and two 08s out of 28.

Anyone ever done a summary of the current wnt roster and how many played on youth national teams? Honestly, I'm curious if the choices by our esteemed USSF were all hold-overs from the former Girls DA? I know on the boys YNT that is usually how it played out. With Girls DA now gone bye bye, I hope they will give talented girls from all leagues the opportunity to experience a turn at the YNT ID Camps...

I don't think these girls are mostly DA in Georgia but could be from North Carolina. Personally I think they are scouting pretty widely for the girls but as usual are focusing on ECNL and GA. While in our region there were few GA girls, in Florida there were 11 chosen. I think they missed a few girls that are 06's in our region. There are some really good ones.

While of some of the selections come from scouting, I'm pretty sure coach recommendations play a prominent role in the selections for events like these as well (that's how most of the players who were in previous NTCs got there to begin with). Based on this list, it looks like GQ from CF does a pretty good job of lobbying for his players. He has five players from his 04 team on the list (all 05s who play up), and I think he personally trains the one 06. Not saying those players don't deserve to be there, but coaches working to promote their players is definitely important.
I'm surprised too that there aren't any other 06s. There are a couple play-ups on CF 05 that I would have thought would have been good candidates.

All the girls from NC Courage and Charlotte are ex DA. By my unofficial count I have 14 of the 28 from the defunt league. No representation from GSA or AFU seems weird but in a pandemic year I am sure its hard to scout...

You are correct-those that “yell” for their players the loudest and push for them are usually the ones that get the call. Of course, the player still has to perform.

I do not think the 05 AFU team has any standouts that would be appropriate though they have some very, very good players. GSA has some 05 girls that would be appropriate I think. Since you are 04 maybe you know about the older age groups. I saw that Tophat announced their invited kids from all age groups. Were there any invited kids from GSA or AFU in older age groups? If not that would be a surprise.

Northern VA / D.C. and maybe Maryland players will have their own center. But is odd that Richmond United players were put in with GA/SC/NC.
