Anyone know region tiebreakers for a 3 way tie? Are there different rules or region or is that set by the state?

We just had this in our region. For a 3 way tie it is head to head for those three teams(If one team beat both others), then goal differential in the head to head for teams that are tied and then goal differential overall then goals allowed in region games. If there's a tie after that for 2 teams head to head results will be used to determine placement. However this could be a region thing, this was for region 7 in 6A.
Tie Breaker: 1. Record against all teams in the Region. 2. Winning team in head-to-head competition between schools that are tied. 3. Goal differential in head-to-head competition between schools that are tied (maximum of three (3) goals per game). 4. Goal differential in all Region games (maximum of three (3) goals per game 5. Goals allowed in head-to-head competition between schools that are tied. 6. Goals allowed in all Region games. *NOTE: When figuring “goals allowed” or “goal differential” in matches decided by kicks from the mark, the tie score at the end of the second overtime period will be used for the tie-breaking procedure. 7. At any point in the process where ties can be broken so that only two teams remain tied, consideration of head-to-head competition will be invoked. If the tie is completely broken for all teams involved at any step in the process, the tie-breaker process is completed.

Someone had posted the GHSA rankings previously, but through searching and looking on GHSA website I cannot find it. Can anyone re-post? TIA.

If so, who is #3 and #4 behind those 2 teams?

Hooch +1 (won 1 0 riverwood and then the ot loss to river ridge is counted as 0 because it is number after 2nd ot not after pks) riverwood was 0 (1 0 loss to hooch and 2 1 win at river ridge) and river ridge was -1 (tie vs hooch see above and -1 versus riverwood).

FYI - not all regions have the exact same tie break rules. A few years ago, we learned that our region (at the time) had adapted slightly different tie-break rules before the season than what would be considered the "norm". I'm not saying what is listed about is incorrect but rather make sure that it is specific to your region. GHSA may have standardized all of the tie-breakers but I would hate for any surprises to arise like they did for our high school.

Interesting..thanks for that as we have friends at both River Ridge and Chattahoochee. Was told Chattahoochee showed 1-2 in conference on Max Preps but that must be wrong then. Wonder why you make teams go to Pks if it doesnt count eventually as a win/loss?

Yes Max Prep is behind. The Eurosport one is better.

Here’s how 6A region 7 lays out - NOTE: you DO NOT want to be the second team, which would set up a second round game vs Dalton. As it stands now: 1. John’s Creek 6-0 (can’t be overtaken) 2. Hooch 5-2 (wins head-to-head with Riverwood) 3. Riverwood 5-2 4. River Ridge 3-2 (a win tomorrow vs Creekview sets up finale vs Cambridge 4/15 for playoff spot) 5. Cambridge 3-3 (beat River Ridge on 4/15 and take 4 seed, lose & out) The 2 likely scenarios: A. River Ridge wins final 2 region games: 1. Johns Creek 7-0 2. River Ridge 5-2 3. Hooch 5-2 4. Riverwood 5-2 5. Cambridge 3-4 (miss playoffs) -River Ridge wins 3-way tie +1 in goal differential head-to-head with other two teams, Riverwood 0 goal differential, Hooch -1 differential. Then third place reverts to head-to-head result and Hooch beat Riverwood. B. Cambridge beats River Ridge on 4/15: 1. Johns Creek 7-0 2. Hooch 5-2 (wins head-to-head result w/Riverwood) 3. Riverwood 5-2 4. Cambridge 4-3 (wins head-to-head w/River Ridge) 5. River Ridge 4-3 (miss playoffs) The only thing certain right now is Johns Creek is Team 1 in region, and Hooch & Riverwood have made playoffs - will have to wait until 4/15 for the rest to be solidified. Also, if Creekview upsets River Ridge tomorrow night, the 4/15 game between Cambridge and River Ridge will be for final playoff spot.

Was told the Goal Differential for the PK games was voted on(region rules) before the season to be 0 and not 1. /shrug

Crazy!

Crazy! Yeah, had that rule not changed all three teams tied at 4-3 it would have gone to the 3rd tirbreaker which was GD for region, which would have had River Ridge 3rd and Chattahoochee 4th and Riverwood outside looking in. Definitely a tough way to go out, especially when they were in a win and in scenario. They have a pretty good team, region 7 in 6A is stacked at the top coming into this week with 3 of the top 10 according to eurosportscoreboard.
