Total garbage. But we all think it’s not the 50-year-old domestic non-athletes or overseas flunkies that run the show here that are the problem. It will take another entire generation until the few actual athletes that are playing soccer now (against all odds) start making decisions for things to change. The bias against real athletes in the grey-headed soccer community is shocking. There is only one Messi - stop looking for another. This is not opinion, it’s fact - just look back a few days ago on this very board when one poster said “soccer will never be for the 6’4”, 200 muscled pound player. Add to that a lack of funds to support a bonafide scouting network and you have AU dominating things like this, when everyone that’s ever been through the years thus far playing AU knows they never have the best 1-2 players on the pitch, players 3-6 are equivalent, and then they have a marked advantage from there to the end of the bench. Yet their PR machine lords over lazy scouts. It’s not rocket science as the soccer heads would like you to believe, and even if it was rocket science, guess what, some of us are rocket scientists!

You might be correct, but I think soccer talent is so subjective. I have overheard talent scouts watching the same game come up with different evaluations of players. My comment is not just related to this post but to talent scouting in general. Even with colleges offerring scholarships...

You know it really doesnt have to do with the scouting. They call only a few coaches and ask who do you got. Its not like they have been watching any of the games. maybe 1 or 2.

It’s pathetic, lack of identification is glaring and as a result look we can’t make world cups or even Olympics
