Anyone know Pughs status? Is she hurt?

Well, we are pretty sure she was training at metro north park yesterday and training pretty hard. But she has had a lot of injuries lately. Vlatko also sees something that is missing there that he wants to get out of her. At least that is what I read in an article when she was left off the 2020 Olympic qualifying roster last year. He was bringing her into trainings with the team but not picking her for games or travel rosters.

This was an unimpressive performance today. There should be some concern by the USWNT how close this team is to them. For many minutes in the game, they were outplayed.

Full disclosure - I didn't get to see the game, but just looking at the stats (which I know can be deceiving), we out-shot them 20-9 (6-2 shots on goal), possessed it 55% and had 9 corners to their 5. Sounds to me like we just couldn't finish. And Sweden is ranked 5th in the world and has consistently played us tough over the last several years. Not to mention the game was IN Sweden. I just looked it up: 6 of the last 7 matches with Sweden have been by a goal or less and we're 3-1-3 in those games.

Apparently because my younger daughter and husband said he sure looks a lot like the guy she was with yesterday.

3-1-3 says it all w 6 of 7 by a goal or less. This is not exactly domination. I encourage you to try to watch the game. USWNT was outplayed in many stretches.

You missed my point - the fact that they're #5 in the world and have played us close the last 7 matches tells me that maybe Sweden is better than you're giving them credit for. In those 7 matches, the only one that was decided by more than 1 goal was in World Cup group play in 2019 when we won 2-0. Sweden finished 3rd in that World Cup, BTW.

I was flipping back and forth watching EPL and Pulisic FC...but the times I watched the USWNT they looked outpaced. Saw the “penalty” that wasn’t (no VAR)-thought we were fortunate to get the draw.

Gotcha...My apologies. Still would not have expected to have tied (really lost) that game. Foul was outside box. VAR likely over turns that call.

There was a ton of panic when the USWNT lost and was VERY outplayed by France a few months before the last world cup. Then we went on to win it. Some times the team needs to play a few really tough games to get better. I am not panicking. It will be fine. Even if we don't win the Olympics I will survive. The US is a great team. We will continue to get better as the world's women's teams also get better. We will probably no longer dominate but will still always be relevant. It is good for the women's game for other countries to get better.

Sweden is a very good team. Not only a skilled team, but a physical team. They were tossing around US women like they were children and instead of getting up and playing the US kept crying for fouls.
PK call was a little absurd in my opinion to be awarded in a friendly. Easy call to spot the ball outside the box.
The USWNT’s major advantage is depth and being able to endure a group stage and knock out stage. Many other counties lose players to injuries and cards - it has very little effect on the women’s team. Next man up.
But - Lloyds days are over. She’s painfully slow on the ball. O’Hara didn’t have a good game at all, will be interesting to see her in the next game. I’m not a fan of the other center back Davidson - she’s slow and just doesn’t look very athletic. Dunn has the worst first touch in the history of soccer.
Lavelle needs to go at defenders more and play like Almiron did with Atlanta

She's one of our best CB's.
