I'm a bit new to the board, but is there some hard & fast rule against writing out a coach's name on here? I guess I get it if someone may be sharing what they THINK about a coach, i.e. their opinion, especially if it's negative, but in this case the original poster was passing along public news that the club itself announced on its website. In an instance like that, why not type out the coach's name & save everyone the guesswork or Googling?

Seems to be more of an unspoken rule to not put a player's name because they are kids but I think coaches are fair game to put their names in posts.

I would say if it's a news item, naming would be fine. Opinions, pro or con, should probably be initials only.

Using initials on an anonymous board is dumb.

Nothing wrong with names. How about names when it's good and initials when its bad.

I think it would be interesting for coaches to start an anonymous forum where they can discuss soccer parents with or without initials

Probably not good for business. Yes, coaches can discuss their paying customers. That’s the problem, people think because they pay money they can’t be talked about? A large majority of kids wouldn’t even be playing “high level” soccer if it weren’t for the fact the clubs have 8 teams per age group to take people’s money. Most of the real players can’t play in certain leagues because they don’t have the funds.

Ha --- the dark web, you can buy drugs, weapons and hear coaches criticisms of parents and players.

Disagree... if they can play and don't have funds, clubs find a way to make it work. Edited to note: having enough kids to make 8 teams deep isn't the problem. The problem is a lack of honesty w/ parents and having them think the 8th team is "Elite".
