I question how valid these things are. Just heard in one region the first team goalie gave up over 70 goals and got Mercy ruled 6-8 games. Second team all goalie gave over 25 goals. Understand you lobbying for your player as a coach but sometimes you have to really question people decisions. It really makes a mockery of the award

It normally takes a team effort to get mercy ruled.

That's what stinks about being a keeper. If you get no action people can't see if your any good. As a field player you always get to show what you can do even if you only play 10-15 minutes. Then if you have 2 keepers on your team you only get to play a half if the game is a blowout. Sometimes the first string goalie doesn't play against teams they know that they will beat so the backup gets some playing time.

The coaches in the region vote for them, so I assume they go off what they see when they play. For example, girls 7-AAAAAA they voted for the River Ridge keeper as 1st and Johns Creek as 2nd. JC keeper gave up 3 goals in region, RR gave up 14 but still felt she was the best in regionI(I do not know if they played a 2nd keeper in any of the games). But I'm guessing the JC keeper didn't get nearly as much action in her games than the RR keeper did so the coaches vote accordingly.

I’m friends with some coaches in other regions and they say they look at more than just goals given up. Saves and perceived contribution to success plays a factor to them. Eyeball test (right/wrong) plays a factor Im sure too like you stated. As a parent of a former GK, sometimes you don’t want to be on a team that’s winning 10-0 most games.

Is there a link to the all-region teams? I could not find them. I'd also be interested in learning where folks are finding information regarding all-region teams. Have they been announced at this point? I thought those teams were announced after playoffs ended.

Based on my observations sometimes the local paper in that region picks up the results. Not all regions have released the teams and players... So it depends...

My daughter was sent hers yesterday for her region.

I think the coaches are getting the information directly (I am not a coach), haven't seen it posted anywhere for all regions
