Honest question here, how much do NPSL players make on average? Are they all even paid? I believe their financial model is to have bigger/higher leagues pick up these players and that's how they recoup the money they use to subsidize the teams. Interesting turn of events for sure...
Hopefully, the kid can work his way back up the soccer ladder and land somewhere in the MLS and make a career of it 🙌🙌🙌

He is still young. I hope he makes some good choices going forward. These young guys need mentors. Some will be fine but others will need some leadership to help.
As my oldest ages I realize that many people (even just in high school) ask for a lot (too much IMO) out of 14-17 year old kids. They are just kids. They still need adult guidance. Frankly they probably ought to change the legal age for adulthood to 21 at a minimum.

Today's 18 year olds are not prepared, but honestly given the age of brain maturity why do we expect them to be? Cognitive maturation at 25, but 7 years earlier we allow legal adulthood? Separate debate to be sure... Whether you come from a good family or not is irrelevant when placed into the type of environment he was in. 17 year old hanging out daily with coworkers who are over a decade older for the most part. Many have lived in multiple countries |

Different forum post for sure -but I do think family life and structure plays in a lot for young men.
I was working a union job at 18 with some pretty roughneck guys around-some from jump street. I however, chose a different path-I credit my family support (poor but loving). I wasn’t a sport star though, so there’s that.
I hope he has the self control to lay off drugs/alcohol.

I honestly have no idea how many NPSL kids make it (back) to pro, but I hope his parents help him get a degree or any other help he needs getting back on the rails while he's living at home.

🤷🏻♂️...maybe #futsal gawdess knows? As much as we give him h3ll, he has accomplished a lot more than many if not most of us have (from a playing perspective). I hope he gets his life together. I believe he and all his siblings were home schooled. Their mom is a saint, I could barely deal with almost adults during covid, can you imagine home schooling. My hats off. I do know some of what is printed in the media is only to get clicks and eyes to read the articles. Some have a modicum of truth. The bottom line is he comes from a good family, with loving, good, smart and decent parents. Trust me when I say he's done well financially, his parents made absolutely sure of that. I don't think folks are actively wishing for his downfall or demise. He's in the public realm, so folks feel they own a piece of him. All I would caution is do we all remember what it's like to be 16 and be thrust into this crazy world of professional soccer with a whole city watching your every move. So, I'll say it again... Hopefully, the kid can work his way back up the soccer ladder and land somewhere in the MLS and make a career of it 🙌🙌🙌 |

I read through all of the posts and I really don't see much bashing. I see some jokes about the DC rumors but that is really it. He is a young guy thrust into a high pressure situation and he made several mistakes. Not unusual for a teenager. I think most people wanted him to succeed and are sad he slipped up. |
