So many NCAA mens soccer spots (and scholarships) go to foreigners... If you want to play and you are going to have to pay anyway, you might be better off spending a year or more abroad at 18 in a lower level league. If you make it, great. If not, you can return stateside and focus on your studies without the interruption of sports.

They had the replay of the Marshall/UNC game on last night. Marshall has some legit talent - wow. Talk about Brazilian pipeline - herdzone.com/sports/mens-soccer/rosterIt’s nerve wracking watching college men’s ball though. The pace is so frantic it’s unsettling and makes you anxious.

Agreed on the frantic nature of college men's ball. It is like watching ping pong or tennis sometimes too with all of the missed/intercepted passes...back and forth. I prefer the women's college game which seems cleaner and more tactical.

NCAA rules certainly leave a bigger door open (more players will have opportunity to play) but it’s somewhat of a disservice to players hoping to go pro - they have to re-learn game management if they do make it. Nothing insurmountable.. but just another hurdle for players coming out of college.

There should be some sort of roster size limit on game day with a maximum roster size of 18. Doesn't look like either Marshall or Indiana made many subs though.
Also, interesting to look at Indiana's roster. Teams full of kids from Indiana and the surrounding area - Ohio and Illinois.
Maybe in 30 years UGA and Ga Tech will get a mean's team and we will be able to watch our great grandchildren play. Operation 2050.

I feel exceptionally old as my wife and I have known one of the Indiana players since he was born as his parents were friends of ours. He hung out with us to give mom and dad a break every now and then.
I still see him in an infant carrier...except his Dad keeps sending me pictures of him at IU!
