New to some of this...so curious to know what the post-season play expectations are for a team that makes regionals or nationals which occurs after tryouts. Does the club take all players who played regular season but perhaps are no longer on the team? (And perhaps part of this is driven by a league’s rule of maintaining X number of players from regular season for post season play) Is there any expectation for new players to play in that post-season tournament? Just wondered how the shuffling of players between clubs after tryouts affected post-season play and what people’s experiences have been.

Yes since seeing some of the discussion on the other posts (re anticipated player movement but also post season play), but I suppose it could also apply to SCCL as well. (?)

My son and a few others played NPL and ECNL at our club. The NPL team did not qualify but the ECNL team did. We were told we will be playing the playoffs but they are registered for both so not sure if there is any restrictions like state cup since this is a new season. Yes there will be a lot of shuffling going on but I am sure even players switching teams or clubs can still play.
Anyone know the US Club rules for playoffs?

Yes but in addition to the league rules piece, is there an expectation (or pressure) to NOT play with the player’s previous team in its June or July tourney if that player wound up switching clubs/teams?

Yes but in addition to the league rules piece, is there an expectation (or pressure) to NOT play with the player’s previous team in its June or July tourney if that player wound up switching clubs/teams? I would personally think most parents and players would want to play in playoffs but most coaches are not so nice when it comes to players not coming back. As a team manager for academy years, I have heard coaches bad mouth, degrade former players in front of parents. We left that club and won’t look back. The DOC couldn’t stand players leaving to go to one of the big 5. I think it’s a marketing tactic but so uncalled for. The playoffs are out of town and costs a lot of money. Keep in mind that coaches don’t have to play them knowing your not coming back. Hopefully, that isn’t the case. I would personally talk to the coach for an honest answer about playing time.

Have experienced this. Players leaving the team after tryouts were offered the option to play in regionals/nationals. It was player/family choice but it was a choice that had to be made in early June so the rest of the team could plan accordingly. I thought it was a fair approach.

June (after tryouts) is too late. In early May teams get assurances that players will participate in post-tryout playoffs regardless of tryout outcomes or whether they stay at the club for the next year and they make sure by procuring playoff expense funds from parents at that time. Makes for an awkward summer but if not done that way, parents of rejected players would leave the team high and dry, guaranteed.

We already had to book hotel rooms. No idea how many players are coming back. At least 1 or 2 are gone for sure, but beyond that it is hard to say. I do think it is weird and awkward to do it after tryouts. Interestingly some areas of the country do tryouts even earlier...like April. Even worse IMO.
As for players leaving and not getting playing time we have a friend who was moving out of state and even she got way less time on the field than usual. It is not just a punishment for leaving the club for some other local club.

Need to wait on other pending results and the Atl game purge before we will know who is in and out of playoffs ... some ages will be very close

It would be nice to know what teams need to do to qualify. Has anybody been able to verify the AU rumor yet?
