Does anyone know how the relegation process for MLS Next youth teams works? I thought that teams were not relegated but that is apparently not true.

Got to start pro/rel somewhere. MLS Next is as good as anywhere but I can assure you it will not apply to MLS Academies, just paying academies

InterAtlanta lost their MLS Next team. Did the MLS next teams at SSA and Lanier survived to next season?

InterAtlanta lost their MLS Next team. Did the MLS next teams at SSA and Lanier survived to next season? So is SSA the only other local team that competes in every age group? Inter only had the younger age groups right?

InterAtlanta informed players/parents on Tuesday that MLS Next offer would not be extended for next season 2021-2022. Inter had two teams, 08 and 07 boys in MLS Next for 2020-21 season.

@atldolphin Was there any communication on why this decision was made? I'd think MLS next would be desperate for teams to compete and kicking teams out seems like the wrong a approach.
others have asked, but was Lanier retained?
I think this is somewhat problematic (unless there is more to the story) -- but from a longterm perspective, fear of the MLS just booting you out of the league is not positive message. At least put a team on probation or something. That has to be more to the story, if not, teams will stay away from MLS next and when i say teams, I'm talking the big boys.

Does this mean Inter Atlanta will only have the 09 team in MLS Next come fall season? Or does it mean the club will have no teams at all in MLS Next?

Inter were in a tough spot going in. ECNL had already announced expansion teams. Tryouts were held, players accepted spots. And after all that, MLS Next announced and then Inter had tryouts. I don’t think they were able to field a top team. Looks like that cost them.

My understanding is that Lanier is out of MLS Next too. SSA received a MLS Next offer for upcoming 2021-22 season. Very little information on the why so far. Hopefully more information coming over next few days.

Interesting thing is that results are hidden for U13 and U14 in the southeast. Although, if you looking at results for the older ages, SSA did not fair very well. 11th out of 13 at U15; 10th out of 12 at U16; 12 out of 12 at U17; 11th out of 11 at U19. If those results don't get you kicked out, how bad must it have been for Inter and LSA?

This isn't a good selling pitch for new clubs to join, imagine having to worry about getting the boot without any sort of heads up or phased approach. I thought it also wasn't about results.....
If lsa 08s did in fact win both games, you have to assume they did very well in the league.

So MLSNEXT told Lanier and Inter Atlanta at the end of the season that they were dismissed from the league? Inter had their MLSNEXT ID tryout already. Feels like the beginning of the end of MLSNEXT in GA. Seems like NASA, CF, UFA, GSA, etc are not interested.

Only Inter FC 07 team will not be competing in MLS Next in 21-22. Inter FC '08 and '09 teams are confirmed to compete in MLS Next for 21-22.

Anyone else find it interesting that ‘ altdolphin’ created their user id yesterday and has 4 posts - all about the MLS - Next league I don’t know - they could have inside information to share or could be purposely causing doubt about the league without any real information. Why would anyone do that around try out time ? 🤔 Time well tell.

it sounds like there is confusion for sure.
lanier / inter atlanta only had the 2 younger groups and my guess is they were not awarded the older age groups. but it sounds like the are in fact keeping the 2 younger age groups that they had.

Sounds like the club has u13 & u14 teams in MLS Next and the current u14(2007) just aged out for next year. May be a confused parent or child posting.

I know for a fact Inter was waiting for their 07 status and thought they were maintaining it for the u15 year. They did have IDs for the 07s too. So they did not age out - they lost that status for the age group.

Inter would be a great fit in the SCCL Club League.

To justhavefun. I have lurked as visitor on this forum for a few years, never bothered to set up account due to such low activity. So much distrust over the simplest things. No hidden agenda on my part, just lots of confusion and attempt to communicate with others who may have more knowledge than me in youth soccer.
Yes, I did my registration to ask questions not to undermine any league or anything else. Our tryouts were weeks ago for MLS Next with offers extended.
Since asking a specific question is seen as suspect. I will end all further inquiries. Peace out!

So two points: Diamonddad- if InterAtlanta did not have U15’s this year. ( 2020-2021 season) and only had U13 & U14. And next year will still only have U13 &U14 ( 2009 & 2008 respectively) that is what aging out means. Second point: my issue is not that altdolphin recently registered so he/she could post or ask a question. My issue is with the inaccurate posts stated as fact. i.e “LSA and Inter- Atlanta lost their teams” Ask a question no problem- spread fake news - not okay. Go to Twitter for that

I heard MLX Next is going to have a second division or clubs are going to be allowed a 2nd team.

I have to agree with justhavefun. There is a lot of anxiety this time of year. Yes - the clubs lack of transparency adds to it, but as parents we need to post only factual information. Or at least call it out as “unverified” . Parents are trying to make decisions for their child and sometimes right or wrong this forum is used as a datapoint. Us parents need to stick together.
