Before I leave this forum, I am not a liar or a promoter of fake news. I was looking for information to understand more about competitive youth soccer. I received condemnation and accusations when I asked for information. I will remove my registration. So much for decency among humanity. But I have learned something about soccer culture from this forum. It is not aligned with my values of human decency.

Seems like this one touched some nerves. I didn't see anything to get huffy about though.

I did reach out to another parent on Tuesday evening, who confirmed that Inter Atlanta will have 2009 & 2008 age groups for 2021-2022 season. I do not have info on reasons of 2007.

Do they have other clubs that don't compete in all the older age groups.
My guess is adding a club for just the u15s for example creates a scheduling conflict/challenge when they don't have the other 3 older agegroups. and the MLS next wasn't ready for the logistic of partial scheduling of clubs vs a full slate of games.

That must have been an alien if they think someone treated them too harshly. Have they not been on Nextdoor?

So two points: Diamonddad- if InterAtlanta did not have U15’s this year. ( 2020-2021 season) and only had U13 & U14. And next year will still only have U13 &U14 ( 2009 & 2008 respectively) that is what aging out means. Second point: my issue is not that altdolphin recently registered so he/she could post or ask a question. My issue is with the inaccurate posts stated as fact. i.e “LSA and Inter- Atlanta lost their teams” Ask a question no problem- spread fake news - not okay. Go to Twitter for that Either you truly do not understand or you’re being purposely obtuse. At any rate, I’ll spell it out for you... The Inter 2007s (next year’s u15s) were told they would be in MLS Next for 2021-22. The club had ID sessions for that age group and told attendees that they would have MLSNext for 2021-22. The club thought the 2007s (next year's u15s) would retain MLS Next. It was either lost or not granted. Those are the facts. They did not age out.

Diamondmid, we clearly define aging out differently. AND that is fine. Maybe it’s just semantics? If you can play on a team at a younger age but not at an older age, I define that as aging out. Especially when there never was a U15 team. I understand they told you they were going to start a U15 team and held ID sessions but they decided for whatever reason to not have one. Whether that was their decision or MLS Next - I don’t know Curious - do you know how many wins Inter- Atl had at the U13 and U14 age groups this season ( 2020-2021) . I think the answer as to how many wins MIGHT give us a clue as to why there isn’t a U15 team.

as the great soccergurl mentions, i never understood the logic of the younger only DA sides other than a recruiting tool for the mls clubs. Those clubs were never even given an honest assessment to get the older teams. that was a major DA failure, SSA's 05s were the perfect example of that. this sounds like a bad situation, club was hoping for the 15s and i'm assuming were being told they had a good chance at the older age expansion. I don't buy the MLS next has an interest in appealing to the non-MLS clubs, when they created a tiered league, let them spend millions traveling the country for youth soccer games and then in 10 years they will keep wondering why we can't qualify for the Olympics and the world cup.

The younger Mls Next teams are mostly beneficial in communities where there are competitive high school teams. Most individuals would be ineligible for high school if they played mls next.

So you're saying that wins and losses may have been a reason as to why they won't have a u15 team. Almost like they lost it... Not sure why there's such a back and forth on that topic.

are there any teams in the league that previously had u13 and u14 only that were awarded the u15s and not the other older age groups?

are there any teams in the league that previously had u13 and u14 only that were awarded the u15s and not the other older age groups? In Georgia, I believe only SSA had all ages (beside AU, of course). Someone more resourceful would have to look and see if there were other clubs nationally that were only give 13s and 14s to see if they moved into a new age group or if they were awarded additional ages. One thing I found odd - looking at the MLS Next site: AU, SSA, and LSA were all considered "founding members" but Inter wasn't even thought they all came into the league for the founding year.

Regardless of how we are defining aging out, this is terrible for Inter Atlanta and those kids. They deserved to know their status for next year before ID sessions ... I wonder if the blame falls with MLSNEXT or the club? Sounds like the big 5 programs might be getting more tryout candidates at rising U15 at least.

If AU and SSA are the only MLSNext programs at older ages, that is a lot of travel time out of state ... I’d probably prefer ECNL at this point and play CF, NASA, GSA, UFA, etc.
