Playing Devil's advocate here - does that help weed out the kids who are serious about coming to TopHat? And I don't know if TopHat does this but maybe a good idea would be to apply that fee to their fees for next year if they ultimately accept a spot on a team there.

Unfortunately I think it weeds out families who can’t afford this extra cost, which may exclude a very talented player who needs a chance. Typical pay to play America.

$155 to for you to have the privilege of scrimmaging in front of their coaches for 3 days likely? Agreed. Also why are the current players having to pay this? Why are they having to stop training with their own teams for a few days (when trying to get ready for showcases) to do this? I don't think so.

In the very distant past, this was a way to get $$$ for the non director staff coaches. But these days, coaches are payed either monthly or at least through tryouts. If it were a weed out mechanism, a nominal $5/$10/$20 fee I could understand, but why $155. If 30+ girls come per age group listed, that's enough to replenish their goals, nets, corner flags and still put a dollar or two in the director's pocket. That's a chunk of change for many especially when you consider the bevy of expenses around the corner like the deposit to secure your spot on the new team after tryouts, end of season tournaments, pending playoffs, TM gifts, Coaches gifts and even gifts for the kids teachers...

When I had multiple kids playing and they would charge for this, I would always pass and then when asked "why I didn't sign up", I'd say, It didn't feel right to spend close to $500 to send my kids to the camp. They would always respond and say, ok, send them out there for us please and don't worry about the $$.

Sounds like the typical East Cobb snob way. If you can’t afford it you don’t belong.

At all of the clubs that charge, the current players are exempt. I am sure that is the same way at NTH.

So, the pre-tryout camp is FREE to current NTH players at the MILTON location ... this is just weird to charge current players for the "pleasure" of being at Metro. Any current NTH players that want to train for free next week, go to Milton!
