Ok, I’m one of those people that cracks jokes when I’m stressed or in an emotional situation so just for some fun, tell me the most ridiculous promises, guarantees or threats you’ve heard coaches make during tryout time.
example: UFA telling my HS player just a few short years ago, she “would NEVER play DI without DA...” c’mon you know that’s funny

UFA actually recruits less than most others. But every coach and club of any note in this city recruits to some degree. I False. |

Calling high level players at other clubs. Great clubs, teams, and coaches don’t need to do that. I know of a girl that has been called for many months being recruited by CF, GSA and UFA. All of these clubs called her last year as well. Funny that you say great clubs, teams and coaches don't need to do that. Her mom complains that her current coach/club does not recruit. I am aware of a girl that was called by the CLUB (for a team at a different level) but not aware of anyone her COACH has called. |

I once had a coach try to convince my then 12 year old kid (at tryouts and before they could talk to me) that Noonday was about as far from Sandy Springs as Metro.

Guessing they pretty much all recruit to some degree. How it plays out is another story. We had a coach at Concorde calling us several years back asking for our daughter to attend the pre tryout "Camp". We've also had parents at AFU and another Concorde team reach out to us to play in summer tournaments in either Seattle or Phoenix. We were then told that if we made the trip with the club we were expected to join them in the fall.
I always felt bad for the player on the team when other parents were basically being asked to help replace her.

Ok y’all, this was meant to just be a fun board with tales of ridiculous sales pitches... not a debate on who recruits and who doesn’t. I wasn’t even aware that was up for debate. CAREER coaches are going to recruit because their LIVELIHOOD depends on it, period. If Alabama stopped winning you think Saban keeps his job?
It’s obvious I hurt someone’s feelings calling UFA out... so to be fair. This season I have a rising senior, already committed to go DI early so she will miss her senior year in HS, bc of DA she has missed HS every previous year too. Needless to say this year she had a blast and wants to play club closer to home and play with some of her HS teammates at UFA, well it didn't take TH long before they called her to “recruit” her back... Now is this in the player’s best interest? Or perhaps bc all DOCs are worried about is their teams/club winning games in order to keep their 6 figure salary, they will say whatever it takes to get your kid and your $$$$.
