I keep hearing rumors that GAL is going to be insanely expensive in comparison to the other leagues out there. Any insight?

This past year, the cost was comparable to ECNL, in regards to fees and travel. I haven’t seen anything yet that it’s going up significantly in cost.

I keep hearing rumors that GAL is going to be insanely expensive in comparison to the other leagues out there. Any insight? Where do these rumors come from? Travel leagues like ECNL and GA have travel costs associated with them. Last year there were 2 trips to Florida (most drove but some flew) and one to NC. Three showcases. One in Texas (cancelled due to weather for U15 and U16). One in Florida. And end of the year playoffs/showcase in California. GA added one Florida team and one SC team. The remaining additions were local to us. Looks similar to ECNL to me. Now there will be a "Champions League" next year that will involve the Gold team. That may add a few away games. Maybe that is where the rumors of added expense come from...

The travel cost will actually go down this year as there are more "local" teams in the atlanta market with the addition of SSA and AFC. So the rumors are false in this example. I agree with what others have said the travel will be comparable to ECNL.

Probably from the same people that say GAL is a crap league and colleges won't recruit from there when they have never seen a game or bothered to look at the coaching lists for the GA Showcases and the GA Nationals Events coming up.

Girls Academy League at AFC is significantly lower than the rest - $1650 for the year. I wonder if it because they are new to the league and are looking to attract more quality players? At any rate, to me it seems right in line with the costs of the other programming in the ATL..

At any rate, to me it seems right in line with the costs of the other programming in the ATL.. I am always surprised by the different pricing at all levels and ages. For example, for my academy age players I saved $800 by switching from UFA to elsewhere. This was not the reason for the switch (did not like the coach) but it was a pleasant side effect.

Are you a resident of Forsyth county and if not, does that $800 include the out of county fee? I get it but that fee was insane IMO...

If she was on the same team as last year without the out of county fee it would have been about $620 and with the out of county fee it would have been $970 difference. I was trying to hit the middle. There are a A LOT of out of county players there. Some, like us, can see the Forsyth county line from our homes.
