Honestly, surprised they aren't looking at a South American/Spanish speaking coach, seems to make the most sense to me.
or higher a young american coach, give a kid a chance. Win's don't matter, hire a young guy who can coach.

Yep. Jack is USL coach. Wish him the very best and will miss him in the Academy. I see him moving very quickly up the ranks. Cheers Jack

I guess this past weekends MLS Academy Cup were his last set of games with the Academy lads. Should be interesting to see how well he can stitch the lads from Academy to AU2 to First Team. Wishing him all the luck...

I agree with him, the rising U17 group for next year have some very very talented players, some of who pitched in significant minutes this year with the current U17s(2004s). If memory serves me right, they were the ones who won the U17 bracket of the Unite Cup right and are still the defending champions of the Manchester City Cup International. It's going to be fun to see how some develop this upcoming year and if any will be signed as homegrowns or punch their ticket for greener pastures in Europe...🙊🙉🙈

If AU can keep the core group together without mixing up too much. Maybe 2 or 3 will be HG worthly with 1 maybe Europe. If memory serves correcly the current u17s distroyed the U16s in an inner friendly. Actually a few u16s got hurt in that matchup. For sure talented but take 4 or 5 from the team and it just becomes an avg team.

From everyone that knows that team well, I've heard the same thing, that 2-3 potential HGs and one likely leaving for Europe. Now there is some discrepancy in regards to the internal scrimmage though. I heard the 17s had 7 of those talented 16s shoring up the "deficiencies" on the 17s and they have been propping up the 17s all season long. Sadly one of those 16s is a family friend and that game's injury shut him down for the season. Nevertheless, that is footy. I look forward to seeing what they can do this fall and beyond and hopefully you guys will open up the training grounds for us fans to come watch potential future first teamers... 🤞⚽🤞

Any academy coaches left now from the start? Not sure of all the coaches, but I think Matt Lawrey may be the only remaining original coach from 2016. Someone said Steven Covino was an assistant too and was brought on as a full time coach a year after the Academy kicked off. I know at UFA we lost Ryan Maurer, Roddy Rios, Tony Anann and almost lost Robin Dixon and Rich Mealey...

That will all change over the next year or so. Yes, I know i was so bummed for him. Great kid and family. My son trained with him all during covid. They say new season they will be open so lets hope this is the case. I'm looking forward to seeing what that rising u17 team does. Not far behind is that U15 team which I think is even better. I guess thats what you want year to year is producing/ recruiting better and better players.

Hopefully AU will schedule some local Friendlies in addition to the Unite Youth Cup next year. It’s always fun to watch those guys play and it’s motivating for kids to play at the CHOA Training ground!
