How is someone at one club for 11 years? Sounds like they had a good experience until now. Too bad they could not make it for one more year... I have three children - so with all the three combined we had been there 11 years

Sounds like they had a good experience until now. Too bad they could not make it for one more year... If you read the post again, it seems fishy to me. They got an offer but then it was taken back because the sister stayed at Concorde? I seriously doubt 300 messages and phone calls were received about Simon. I am not affiliated with him at all but once again I did find it interesting someone can pop up out of nowhere on the forum with a story about some coach doing them wrong and people are so quick to believe the worst. Here are the facts: Let me start with the coach is amazing and this was out of his control! If you work for Simon, you do not speak out about Simon or you will no longer work for him. The coach and girls director tried to help me. She was offered a spot. When I approached Simon AFTER TRYOUTS ON DAY THREE I was told my daughter is not welcome because her sister chose to stay w Her Concorde ECNL team. And therefore her spot was gone - I’m sorry if you don’t want to believe that- there is a reason I’ve never posted in here and that’s bc I don’t chase drama or have issues - we have been w SSA for years- I am not making her sister leave her team! I have had over 300 messages, calls and texts in support of Simon being a complete jerk- again it’s fine if you don’t believe me - that’s not what this is about - her offer was taken away by Simon after tryouts were over pure and simple - that’s below the belt. If you want to play politics then you do it on day one ..... NOT AFTER TRYOUTS ARE OVER!

There’s a lot of bizarre things happening at concorde too. I know of at least three girls at CF that got screwed (blindsided!) out of returning spots because CF wheeled & dealed with families from other clubs to get the “stronger sibling” but placed the weaker sibling on top teams to secure the deal. They bumped current better CF players for weaker players. It’s awful and CF should be ashamed of themselves for treating players and families like shizat. No club is innocent of this type of behavior, but CF is now getting cocky with this type of treatment of their current families.

This player was offered positions by the coach and then had to take it back over Simon’s direction.

After two days of tears and my daughter not understanding how or why an adult would do this to her I think she finally feels it will all work out- this is just a small puzzle Piece in her life - it has shown her pure evilness but also purse kindness from everyone reaching out. This wasn’t meant to start any debate - I just don’t want another mother or child to ever go through this - I know there is no one above Simon so I felt it could benefit others to just have this little bit of information in their back pocket! :-)

We have been at SSA for 11 years now. Both my daughters took the offers from SSA to do the Concorde/SSA “alliance.” It was presented to us by Simon as a “pathway for our players”- well fast forward to now and we all know that alliance is gone. So my 04 daughter decided to come back to SSA and was offered a spot on the GAL team. AFTER the 3rd day of tryouts - when all top level teams are full- especially bc of the combine age groups for 03/04 this year- I was informed that my daughter was blackballed from SSA because her sister stayed w Concorde. My daughter tried to talk to him while balling crying after finding out she was blackballed from the club and Simon told her to step away. The fact that he waited until after tryouts were over before I could do anything about it is sickening!! I have had over 300 calls texts and messages about this man and his nastiness!! Beware is all I have to say! I just pray that one day he wakes up and really allows this sport to be about the child!
I personally witnessed some of this situation and conversations and this is an accurate account of what happened. Politics should play no part of youth athletics and grown men should know better. This was an evil act committed by a despicable man against an innocent player that coaches had picked up for their team and then Simon came along and tried to destroy a player for his own personal agenda. You can’t hold this player down though. She will rise above Simon’s corruption.

1. Wish your player the best. I never had this happen in sports but have had several incidents like this in the work world. It’s an unfortunate learning lesson and it absolutely sucks.
2. If you post “Water is wet” on social media you will start a debate 😬. I wouldn’t take it personally.
3. Appreciate the info-thanks for sharing. I hope this never happens to anyone else…though it seems to be an often repeated story.

now you wonder why american youth sports will never win any thing in an international stage. But but Women’s soccer is winning, Simon must be the reason why All kidding aside, this is despicable but what can parents or paying customers do to avoid this when ALL CLUBS have same issues? Parents are part of the problem as this is a Dog eat dog world. No, not all best players make the top team(s) whether you like it or not, politics play a role in youth soccer and for that matter all sports.

Curious, did you have an offer in writing or was it verbal? SSA emailed top team offers the morning after tryout day #1. Anyone who didn't get one right then needed to start considering team 2 - or go tryout days 2 & 3 elsewhere. If they gave you an early offer & you stayed all 3 days of tryouts then got your offer pulled, that's truly awful! We're so tired of the games these clubs play to prey on parents. We know a few kids at a couple different clubs who are stranded without a team bc coaches/directors were not honest from the start. Not cool. We had offer in writing. Coach liked my daughter a lot- it’s not his fault - we were told after tryouts - my daughter went up to Simon crying asking how he could punish her bc of her sister - she was told was “walk away” - SICK MAN!

As my young wise daughter said last night - "this is why American soccer will never be great". Definitely way too many dirty deals, deceit, and downright dishonesty in youth soccer. The sibling package happens all the time and the DOC's will try to justify. Spots are offered to players new to one club over players that are equal in skill that should should be promoted and instead cut. There is no loyalty from a club to the player at all.. Some kids get offers without even showing up, others get offers wearing certain jerseys to tryouts and have weaker skills but coaches want to "one up" the opposing club.I even know of club that threatened players that did not make their chosen team by telling them if they go to another club they will never be able to come back.. Developing children into better soccer players has taken the back burner to raising the salaries of these club directors with the promise of all these new leagues with "better paths " to the top.. It's a complete joke snd those that buy into it may want to look into also purchasing oceanfront property in Arizona... Sure there are a few really, really talented players that will make it but those we could count on our hands... The rest of us are just lining the pockets of people that most likely would never make it out of an entry level promotion in the real world...

Had a parent say the practice of CF politics and favoritism elevating weaker players over stronger players was so blatant, that a couple early CF commitments backed out after hearing which kids got offers during tryouts. Top players know who the stronger players are. Cant blame the kid at all when adults clearly operate without merit, at a certain age they see it for themselves. Hatter no more... no wait second thought, Hatter again.

He’s definitely an a$$ and you’re totally messy. Everyone knows it about you both. Simon absolutely has done what you’ve said, but you’re no angel to the soccer world drama at SSA. I hate this happened to your daughter, but parents must understand that the actions they take of past can haunt their present. I don’t believe it’s just because of your decision to move your other daughter that you and Simon don’t have a good relationship. It’s probably because you keep your nose in everyone else’s business, tell everything you know and don’t know, and keep ish going. This is likely why you have hundreds of text messages and/or communications with parents, coaches, etc. Unfortunately, this has negatively impacted your child. Grand lesson learned here is that you always need to make the best decision for your child, but stay out of the of the politics. You can’t choose to jump in, dart out without consequences and complain now when the you’re the subject of your own nasty karma.

I have never had my kids at SSA or at Concorde. I will say that I know of many parents who are complete jerks, busy bodies, gossip mongers, wheeler and dealers, and about every other bad thing you can say about a soccer parent. I know ones who have bribed people to get their kids on certain teams. I know ones who have picked fist fights with opposing team parents. Despite all of the crap I have seen many of their kids continue to remain at clubs, get recruited by clubs, stay on tops teams, etc. For the most part if the player is a top team player the parents have been immune either totally or mostly from consequences. I don't know what this parent has done that is so bad, but maybe the child was just the unlucky one who actually had to face the consequences of her parent's actions. If so I am sorry for that child and hope that she lands into a good spot and the parent learns the lesson so it won't affect the other children.

This is not the first time I have heard SSA and Simon in particular, do this tactic. I saw last year the exact same playbook happening on the boys side. He has done it often and none of the SSA directors will say something (if they disagree), because he will fire them too in a heartbeat.

If the kid is a baller they have a place to play. End of discussion. If they are on the bubble or can be replaced then they are not a baller, only in parents eyes. Is the kid top 2 on team, then they are balllers.

Is the kid top 2 on team, then they are balllers. The OP's kid was not replaced she was booted off because of where her sister played. This happened the after the 3rd day of tryouts. Everything is set. Clubs have set their rosters and aren't looking to change anything. Even if they were, other club politics come into play. It's very rare that a coach is going to take playing time away from a current player for a new player, especially in this situation where it's obvious that their club was not the top choice. Doesn't matter how good the player is. Allegiances have been made. I don't think the OP posted for us to try and gauge whether their kid was a "baller". The kid got screwed over and was left scrambling. It would be just as cruel with a player at any level.

Why pull it back out this year? We dont see that it was done this year. or was it? Either way we heard the girl last year found a home and moved on...
