This will definitely trigger the A&M crowd who thought they had scored by ditching UT and their Big 12 Network. I figure, to smoothen potential hurt feelings and for those who will move from 13 and 14 to their new position of 15 and 16, it will take a couple of years get this done...#SuperDuperConference

The “Power 5” should really be the Power 4 anyway. Big 12 is over without those two. Let the rest filter to PAC 12 and Big 10. Everyone’s jockeying for the big payoff and Greg Sankey might become the most powerful person in sports when this all shakes out.

Question: do the Domers stay independent or will they finally kiss their cousins in the ACC and share their NBC $$$...?

Question: do the Domers stay independent or will they finally kiss their cousins in the ACC and share their NBC $$$...? As a fan of both ND and the ACC i’d love for them to go all in and compete for a conference title every year. But I’m hearing they internally feel staying independent gives them even more leverage with the pending playoff expansion to 12. Since most if not all tv contracts will require restructuring pre expansion I don’t see why they couldn’t join and both ND and ACC negotiate an even larger deal moving forward. Probably need another strangler to pull in as well. Wouldn’t be surprised at someone like WV or UCF joining. Guess time will tell.

Just my opinion...
For me the more pressing issue is this talk of going to 6, no 8, wait 12, okay okay, a 64 team playoff format. One of the things that truly makes the EPL great is the fact that no one is playing to "make the playoffs" It's that for 38 straight game weeks, it's a year-long playoff till Decision Day. College football is somewhat like that, but I think the recent talk of expanding may threaten that...

College football is somewhat like that, but I think the recent talk of expanding may threaten that... You hit the nail on the head, FG. The regular season in college FB is what sets it apart from all other sports in America, which all have pretty sizable playoff formats. I have always hoped they would keep the playoff at 4, maybe 8, but 12 is too big, IMO. And then it just feels like inevitably they'll expand it again, basically just like what they did in college BB, which made the regular season feel irrelevant in the grand scheme of things when they expanded to 64. Have a winning record in a "tough conference" and you're in. Yay! Get beat in the first round but head coach can say they made the tourney and the fans just lap it up. I love March Madness, but it means I really only love college BB for about 3 weeks. College FB, for me, is a 3-month roller coaster ride that I don't want to end.

In the past, the Big Ten has only accepted schools in the AAU (https://www.aau.edu/who-we-are/our-members). Only Nebraska, who had been in the AAU previously, is not a member. So not sure if WVU has a chance. Their poor academic rep has always hurt them when conference movement has come up.

Auburn is not Bama my friend Did I say they were? Did you completely miss the “and”? 🤔 Whoa, easy Cowboy. I didn’t completely miss the and my friend. The fact that you used the and implies that Bama AND Auburn would have no problems in the SEC East. Auburn is not in the same league as Bama. Georgia has won 8 out of the last 10 match ups with Auburn including four in a row. 🤔

People love to root for the underdog. Look at 2018, did UCF really have a legitimate shot at beating a Clemson or Alabama? Probably not, but at least if they went to 8 you'd see Cinderella crash the ball every once in a while like college basketball does. I wouldn't mind seeing some new teams play in the championship game rather than the same 6 we have the past seven years...Give the Mountain West and AAC a chance lol. Those other leagues play a whole lot more games in their regular season than football does, so it's a different playing field for the little guy. Pro/rel would be great though wouldn't it? UCF goes undefeated and gets promoted to the BCS league that only has 64 teams in it, and they're now scheduling games against the giants. We know that will never happen lol.

Texas and Oklahoma apparently want to join the SEC… Not sure why Texas would want to go against LSU and Alabama every year. Sure way to guarantee a 7-5 season in perpetuity. If this happens would the SEC finally play a nine game conf season?

Not going to happen because ND went to the Big 10 previously about this and the Big 10 turned them down. Also the contract the ACC has with ND specifically states as long as that contract is in effect if they look to join a conference full-time for Football the ACC has to be the conference or else they pay a substantial penalty for breaching the contract.

What is crazy is that they think they can increase the payouts to each institution by adding texas and OK, i guess it would give them the OK and almost the complete texas market with a&m and texas. sounds like this thing is a done deal.

It is not just about the markets they bring. It is also about the national interest that some of these matchups would have. The national TV ratings would be huge for the return of Texas v. ATM; either Texas or Oklahoma playing Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU.
