The MLS Next schedule is out. Any thoughts about the U14 southeast schedule and who do you think will come out on top? There are only 3 MLS academies in this group (AU, NSC and Charlotte FC).

U19 has no MLS academies. They are all NPL teams just moved up a level. Play the same 5 teams 4 times all year long.

I would expect AU to win in every age group. I don’t think they have much competition in the Southeast at MLSNEXT. They will need to travel and play other MLS academies. NASA, CF, GSA, UFA are all in ECNL.

So far AU is undefeated (don't know scores) and both play Seattle tomorrow...

Since Sporting KC is inviting MLS Next teams, Why weren’t SSA and LSA and invited?

Since Sporting KC is inviting MLS Next teams, Why weren’t SSA and LSA and invited? LSA is not in MLSNext anymore, at least not in the older ages. I also don’t think Non-MLS teams would be very competitive against MLS academy teams.

I also don’t think Non-MLS teams would be very competitive against MLS academy teams. There is also the costs associated with flying the team out to KC for a 5 day set of friendlies. No segue, but in looking at the schedules for both MLS clubs and non-MLS clubs using AU and SSA as examples. They have a very vastly different set of opponents. SSA is limited to AU/Charlotte/Nashville and regional/local teams like KSA, Vestavia, Wake FC, etc. AU on the other hand have games against and trips to MLS teams like Red Bulls, NYCFC, CF Montreal, Toronto, Miami, Orlando, Philly, DC United. So again, the pay 2 play model is back in full effect. For a non-MLS club that is a big travel budget for the families to foot the bill for...

I'll be honest, I never even knew this existed nor have I ever heard of most these clubs. Who the heck are the Atlanta Elephants FC? I have to say that is one of the worst soccer names I've ever heard in the Atlanta Market.

I googled and the Atlanta Elephants were created by the Ivory Coast community in Atlanta. The nickname for the Ivory Coast National Team is the Elephants.

I think that is the exact worry of the non MLS clubs in joining MLS next. the 19s were always an issue, but with so many mls teams not fielding a u19 team in MLS next, makes ya wonder, when they start going the same direction for the 17s and it's just a matter of time before we see an MLS only tier.
I'm speaking mostly from the local market vs across the country.

I was hoping they would sneak back into the MLS Next league at the last minute or merge both leagues to give the lads more challenges. Guess I'll be taking more of an interest in the Premier Div. League...

League... ha! I can't even follow the league my kids are in..... But I'll repeat seems odd for MLS to boast and promote a youth league that isn't even a option for its own u19 teams? Does that not seem like a red flag to folks? Keep in mind, many of the top u19 players are homegrowns or already being rostered on USL teams etc and aren't playing much in the u19 leagues etc.

One would think ATL United should dominate this league. Also looks like Carleton will get a chance to play against his old academy if he does another season with Georgia Storm since they will also enter their top team into UPSL this fall.
