What has Tom done with this team? They have started the season with 0 wins and 5 losses. Since taking full reigns, he has completely flipped the team two years in a row by bringing in 9 and then 11 new players. This group used to be a strong-solid team with a winning record. Apparently he canceled the first Alabama-Tennessee games due to “COVID”, which was an excuse for time and training to get players/team fit.
From players coming in and out of roster middle of the seasons, to him having combative behavior with other teams parents on multiple occasions, to him completely changing the team in consecutive years. There have been plenty of mumblings and grumblings with a lot of unhappy people. I have heard nothing but good things about him as a coach here on this forum, but it seems far from it now.

I think their start has been tough largely due to injury, Covid, few if any subs, and bad luck all coming together. They have the talent to make a run in the next few weeks and be right back in the thick of things as long as they don’t take themselves out of it psychologically.

Didn't they lose a few players to UFA and weren't they below the playoff line last year as well?
The surprise I guess is didn't they bring in some large group of ex-Atlanta United players?

For transparency and openness I am a friend of TW and believe in him as a Coach from way back when he coached my kids at UFA-Norcross, however, I have not spoken to him about what's going on...
But, yes, it is the same team that has a plethora of talent but conversely is oddly blessed with an overabundance of injuries and misfortunes. I hear they have had no more than one, maybe two subs at every game and have been hit with two bouts of Covid infections/testing/quarantine/etc. For example in their game versus NASA, they were able to keep the game close in the first half but once you bring in 5/6 fresh legs who are equally as good, you get a lopsided result like 0-6. Oh did I mention they also had not practiced prior to that weekend's games nor were they able to participate in any team-camp activities - COVID. Some of the injuries they are going through are - 2 players with upper respiratory ailments, 4 players with different orthopedic injuries(ankles, knees, etc.), one case of Compartment syndrome oh and weirdly, one live streamed stabbing coupled with a collapsed lung, ouch 😨 TW has his work cut out for him this season, most definitely a tall order for sure. I pray for the sake of the players they are able to get past all the current misfortunes and turn things around...🙌⚽🙌

But also, NASA has injury problems too - I think they only had 3 subs in that game, which is still three more than GSA had on a very hot day. Due to 2 ACLs, NASA just has 14 field players and 2 keepers and it seems like only 3 available subs per game because of week to week injuries. Here’s to hoping that every team gets healthy soon and can play their best soccer! |

The CS was delayed in the hopes of not getting the surgery I believe but ultimately surgery was the only option. In regards to the streamed event, I'd elaborate if I could but it involves minors, so I'd rather be intentionally vague. Best bet is to ask the kids in that age group. They are aware of the details and a younger friend of my oldest shared it with my kid... |

I doubt it’s TW, I can’t imagine a coach would brag about their team when they are in 9th place halfway through the season and having beat only 3 of the bottom 4 teams ( and not by much) that have combined for only 2 wins with a GD of - 55.
It is a parent of one of the boys (or a player) who is trying to look at a “silver lining” in a otherwise dismal season.

Do you have any tips from your expert knowledge that I could pass along to TW that would help him beat teams in the top half of the table? I will also be writing to the ECNL Commisioner to have the 9 points deducted immediately from TW as the parents of the Georgia Soccer Forum have spoken and decided these are inferior teams and wins against them do not count. |

Maybe they shouldn’t have abused a 12 year old ref. However, just because they are a parent doesn’t mean they don’t know something about the game (maybe they have coaching licenses or played at a high level themselves) and perhaps the coach should have been playing a 3-5-2 instead of a 4-3-3. Thing is most coaches don’t switch up formations according to the match situation, they just let them play. |

The most brainless parents usually come on here to trash teams, coaches, leagues, refs, etc.. Usually it starts with some type of entitlement “oh I’ve played soccer in my time” “I’ve coached my son/daughter for years” “I have a coaching license”
I’ve noticed that the parents that actually know what they’re talking about don’t need to tell anyone that they are qualified and probably don’t spend much time on here spreading nonsense and filling up their ego anonymously.
