We live in an age of non-enforcement. Of all things. Consequences rarely exist. Everything will slide under the rug for as long as possible and perpetrators whistle past those graveyards.
But then, perhaps it was always that way?

But cancel culture is a bad thing. In a general sense, yes…b/c unlike this example, many things in life aren’t as discernible. But that’s a debate for another forum.

rifleI enjoy your equivocation between rape and a person saying something in the past which is culturally "insensitive" now that may not have been at the time. You're right, those are the same.

Between this article and the NWSL issue yesterday I felt sick yesterday.
What makes any person think thus type of behavior is OK? Where did their upbringing go wrong?

Between this article and the NWSL issue yesterday I felt sick yesterday. What makes any person think thus type of behavior is OK? Where did their upbringing go wrong? I ask the same questions when I hear about these types of actions. This is especially worse when it is a known thing that you're warned about, like the safety briefings we all get when you first get to college. You know, don't walk alone at nite, don't leave your dorm doors propped open, oh and don't go to Soccer Players Parties. I mean, do you not have kids, daughters, sons(think Penn St.), nieces, nephews or have the baseline trigger in your head that says, this is not a good thing? I wonder if it's all about the selfishness of self preservation coupled with the head in the sand syndrome of "oh it doesn't involve me, so I'll just stay in my little corner and pretend nothing is happening..."

That seems a bit of a stretch. I just think people reap what they sow. Sometimes there are real consequences for failing to discern right from wrong.
