Good article by Jorginho www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/jorginho-premier-league-chelsea-italy-soccer“ Our rooms were filthy. We ate the same food three times a day. The showers had no hot water, not even in winter. Outside, local gangs would try to rob us. But the worst part was when the cleaning lady stopped working. There’s no pretty way of saying this but, when you go to the toilet, right? And you do number two? Well, at this place, if you threw the paper in the toilet it could get stuck, so you threw it in a bin. But when the bin wasn’t emptied for several weeks, well … yeah, you get the idea. This was my football camp in Guabiruba, Brazil. I was living more than 100 miles away from my family. I was 13 years old, man. “ …

Thanks for not stealing a writer’s work and copying it here in it’s entirety … (Even though he is a footballer). I loved this:
“To all the critics, I just want to say one thing. Thank you. Really, thank you all.”

In other countries soccer is a way out for a better life and because of that they make huge sacrifices and struggle to reach their goals, here soccer is not an avenue for a better life as most of the players are financially well off anyway.

In other countries soccer is a way out for a better life and because of that they make huge sacrifices and struggle to reach their goals, here soccer is not an avenue for a better life as most of the players are financially well off anyway. This article reminds me of one Lukaku did a couple of years ago, also with the Players Tribune, when he talked about his mom having to put water into the milk to stretch it long. I agree, the hunger is much greater for our domestic athletic stars to strive for the NFL, NBA or even MLB. You are also correct that in the pay 2 play model, you have to have the resources just to play the game, much less be seen and scouted. What I don't understand is in a country of over 300+ million people with over 4 million registered players with US Soccer alone, in a sport that keeps gaining more and more players, fans, supporters, what we saw on Sunday nite is what we put forth as a National Team 😨 Yes, the stars would have to align for us to win a World Cup, but Sunday was an atrocious showing. Enough of the oh let's go with just the MLS Academies, or the top College programs, or the same tired silver-spooned players who were anointed at 6 1/2 yrs old. Build a network of scouts and release them to all corners of this great nation. Find the 3rd shift Waffle House workers who go play in a dust bowl for the love of the game; find the kid who has to quit playing organized soccer because he has to help feed the family or he has a baby on the way; find the future NFL/NBA/MLB and convince them to give the sport a chance; rotate players in the YNT camps, today's average player may be tomorrow's Pulisic; Pay Scouts who find those hidden gems; Finally, open up a dialog on PRO-REL, set a deadline, sanction and recognize the 2nd, 3rd, etc. divisions, set the parameters for those leagues and light a fire under the arses of these owners. Hopefully, it will force their hand in removing politics and rewarding the best players and ignite a real footy revolution in the country. There are 3.5 spots within the Concacaf for WC spots, we are too good not to make the WC and be struggling against anyone other than maybe El Tri and Los Ticos...😨

Have we had our best 11 on the field at any point? I mean everyone - Pulisic, McKinnie, Weah, etc..?
We have enough kids playing in europe that we should be able to field a strong side - but it seems like it's always patchwork

Consider this, according to Jason Davis (United States of Soccer host), France has 24 players with a market value of $20M or more that haven’t made the National Team.

Luv this story, I wish more of our kids and parents realize there are many paths to the big leagues and the glory that goes with it. I'll always remember Tata saying that none of his stars could get past Robinson in training but couldn't play him because he had more expensive defenders that he was required to play. I hope Europe comes calling... Miles Robinson’s journey from Syracuse to Gold Cup glory for US soccer team... dailyorange.com/2021/08/miles-robinsons-journey-syracuse-gold-cup-glory-us-soccer-team/
