First I have to say how annoyed I am to see another article about US players doing drills standing in lines with cones. In all of the years my kids have played this standing around in lines to do skills at cones has never been a big part of their training and in fact has not been present at all in some years, certainly the older they get it disappears.
Secondly, I am not surprised that European clubs come hunting in the US for players. I think the last 5+ years have shown that we have a lot of talented kids here. They should hunt for players everywhere.

Good article. Out of the ordinary for domestic soccer journalism ..two lines that caught my attention: PSG academy. $60k/year “Flight risk”

“ If a player is impressive enough, and especially if he has a European passport that would make him eligible to play with a youth club in Spain before he turned 18, he might be asked to stay longer than a week. Several Americans have spent entire seasons at the club's academy in Spain. For the most ambitious players, just the knowledge of that possibility gives each practice session additional urgency.”
This.

Can you share your thoughts? Well I like the fact there is more visibility for American players. MLS, USL, foreign teams are all scouting the US. Unfortunately, parents have to try to navigate the scams and scums along the way. All MLS clubs are not created equal as far as development is concerned. For me personally I only have daughters so I dont study boys development as much as the girls side. From a girls perspective college is the only option at this point. In light of all the drama in NWSL I would say that Euro clubs may be the best option for womens professional soccer at this point.
