My son does both. Toca is great, and combined with a good coach, it is even better. For example, the coach can gauge speed and velocity of balls and provide general motivation. It has helped my Kid to play with his back to the goal, control the ball and he has been able to apply skills to game situations. A private coach might have the edge in terms of providing consistent motivation and customized learning plans.

I know ideally both but Toca $$$.... Thoughts? futdad my child does both. I feel like the private coach can give individualized feedback while TOCA allows my kid to get in more touches than just private training.

Good private coach especially if it’s outdoors.
No way I’m paying $90 a pop for Toca anymore. It’s indoors so unrealistic conditions, and got all those fancy toys they’re trying to pay for now.

I always preferred Toca as small group sessions. 2-4 players. Opens up the type of drills they can do.
It's gotten a bit expensive, but the training is good. If it were a choice between that and a top notch private trainer? I'd probably go to the private trainer.. but ideally some of both

TOCA reps are hard to duplicate and the #1 perk TOCA offer is I get to sit on my a** in the HVAC and watch the training. But IMO it's gotten too gimmicky, costly and it's a crap shoot with trainers.
Nothing beats a private trainer that creates a well thought out plan for development. Like @keep311 said, being outdoors, in the elements can't be duplicated.

Like anything else, it’s possible to negotiate a better rate for Toca. There are many locations that are in competition with each other and they realize that families will spread the news with others.

I know ideally both but Toca $$$.... Thoughts? Toca does have group sessions that are cheaper. Plus I'm sure they can work out something if you were to commit to a block of hours. You have to look at the total value. How many balls/touches is the player getting in that hour vs regular coach. No way in an hour session is that coach feeding your player 400+ balls. Intense cardio as well. I personally like Toca for total overall value. If you get a good coach like the others have mentioned then a huge bonus. I heard they have a $30/m membership and $55/hr sessions. They also have group ones which if you have two or three you can still get a great workout in. We went almost all of last year and this year and it has been huge development for both my kids.

If u can budget for TOCA and group/ 1v1 coaching lessons, do both along with individual player taking the time for them selves too..club training only has its limitations in player development.
TOCA training in 45 mins out paces any coach/team practice when it comes to touches w/ (undersized) balls.
Group/team/Individual session(s) can be/ will be more focused on tactical, technical, physical and principles of play.. more effective when live play involves 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, etc.. though

We do both 30 minutes of Toca ($28) and 1 hour of outdoor private ($50) per week.
At this point, my daughter is U16 DPL ... wants to improve her speed of play ... Toca helps with this along with small group trainings with other players that will challenge her

First session is free and allot of club programs and schools are partnering with TOCA which does lower the per 1hr session fee.
