According to L’Equipe, Hamraoui was attacked by masked men last Thursday after accepting a ride home from Diallo following a team meal at a restaurant in the Bois de Boulogne west of Paris. This made sense as both women lived in Chatou, a suburb on the outskirts of Paris. All the PSG women players and staff had been at the event.
As they were driving, it is claimed the car was stopped by two men wearing balaclavas who dragged the PSG pair out of the vehicle before attacking Hamraoui with iron bars while Diallo was held back.
Hamraoui is said to have sustained injuries to her hands and legs in the attack that lasted several minutes. She was later treated in hospital. After receiving stitches for her wounds, she was released from care but missed PSG’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid on Tuesday with the French club initially citing “personal reasons” for her absence. Diallo took her place in the team as PSG won 4-0 at the Parc des Princes. Diallo was arrested the following day in connection to the attack.
