One, soccer isn't meant for turf. I mean it's ok for training and indoor but not games in my opinion. Plus this is Georgia, most people would beyond whine about paying an extra $5 a year in taxes to help fund cites and counties to build turf fields unless they were exclusively for football. We just need to take over all these half full base/softball fields and go back to playing in the rain. How can players develop if they only play in ideal conditions. I mean how many of you all that played growing up played in rain, mud, & snow?

Forcast calls for late afternoon showers - early games will get in. Unless there's a good soaking rain and the flood plain fields like TopHat, Mud Creek, Tramore, GSA, etc get trashed, games will be played.
Regarding turf - Ambush has one turf field and Roswell has several although the games are almost always played on grass at Grimes or Sweetapple. Not a big fan of playing on turf - practicing is fine, but playing, no way.

Its a great alternative when everyone else is closed due to rain. At fowler the fields are lined for Lacrosse as well and at Central theyre lined for football I think, so I guess the county doesn't mind spending the money on those. If you allow people to play in the rain, mud and snow in the grass they will get destroyed and $5 will be nothing compared to what they would have to pay to repair them. In the long run turf fields are cheaper than grass. Theres also no holes like at some poorly maintained fields.

I hope it pours in Gwinnett County on Saturday. Between injuries and other commitments, I don't have any subs for my game!

I don't mind turf field just let players train and play

I hate artificial turf.
Even the new generation kind, which is so much better than what I played on growing up (for indoor soccer- astroturf on concrete). Slide tackling on it is crazy unless it's wet. The MRSA comment makes me cringe..
No question, I understand the logic, it's a great durable surface, but practicing on it makes games on natural grass feel totally different.

1 day down..no rain.... 1 more to go :-) I wouldn't say "no rain" - UFA Dawson game @ Rock Creek had a DELUGE in the first half! We HEARD the rain before it got to the field. But - by the end of the game the sun was shining brightly again. Wacky weather for sure!
