I was dissatisfied with the selection. Firstly, it was suspect to all of a sudden have Best Striker as a new category out of the blue. You knee Robert was getting the shaft at that point. My question is why no Best Midfielder? Why no Best Defender? They should have given Robert the Ballon d’Or for last year. Now the French can say a player won the award while playing for a French club when in reality he didn’t do anything with said club to win the award.
Messi has 7 when he definitely should not have beaten out Iniesta and CR7 in two of those years and I say Robert should have won this year also. The Copa America has been played like 10 summers in a row now it seems. I knew it was a setup when the Brazilians started saying they wouldn’t mind if Argentina beat them. Messi is arguably the best ever but he wasn’t the best in the world this year in my opinion.

I’m sad that the Messi and Ronaldo “rivalry” is going to sunset sometime not to far down the road. Maybe it already happened. Two outstanding players of a generation. Very different but both outstanding.
And yeah Lewy deserves more than he’s gotten.
