Simply playing more competitive games does not equal better soccer talent. This all seems a bit silly. I was recently talking to someone about AAU basketball and 7 v 7 for football and how they are structured. Tossing together more 3 letter leagues to separate parents from their money doesn’t make more sense. These kids need more quality and consistency like the youth programs in Europe

Well said! The truly top players are likely not going to be interested.

Well said! The truly top players are likely not going to be interested. And the rest of us don’t really have a choice After the top two or three teams in town the rest of us just have kids who tryout for a team at a club that picks the coach and a league for you … Most kids are just trying to play some meaningful soccer games that are equally matched while being coached by a quality coach with kids their age who love the sport as much as they do!

If only there was a structure that aligns teams of similar levels to compete.
But the truth is most folks are too impatient and full of themselves (on behalf of their amazing kids) to compete at a level they deserve. So they literally buy into any opportunity to be more elite. In name anyway.
There is a reason these leagues rarely play each other. And the reason is money.

You won’t fly all over… you’ll play teams in your region. No different than NPL, ECNL-R, and ECNL (or MLS). I don’t know if this thing will be worth anything but, in theory, it’s interesting.
It’s supposedly another pathway for a club’s players. And with open rosters, the club can pull in players from any team in their club. So SSA could field a team of MLS, NPL, etc… it’s supplemental and allows a club to see different levels playing with and against each other. UFA could field a team of ECNL, Regional, and so on. Again - In theory - you’ll have those MLS vs ECNL vs NPL matchups all over the field.
Now I never underestimate an ability of the powers that be to fücq things up but it ~could~ be interesting.

Yeah that makes sense. I read the copy pasta above and interpreted “the groups” in the post as the groups.

This region includes: Georgia, Florida, N Carolina, S Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. 6 teams have been named so far (2 slots remain): Jacksonville FC, West Florida Flames, SSA, Charlotte SA, NCFC, UFA.

With a promotion/relegation league? While the ability to change club/team makes for an annual re-shuffle at tryout time, at least the brackets tend to be competitive for the most part under P/R. The biggest challenge I saw was good small club teams getting shafted at U13 by newly formed teams at big clubs - which basically forces them to break apart.
